Day Four German Adventure Model Kit Show, on the fourth I joined three other people to go to a Model Kit Show in Belgium. After the show, we went to supermarkets in Belgium and the Netherlands. In the evening I got together with other collectors including my friend Peter Bergner and his wife Ute.
Day Four German Adventure Model Kit Show The Trip
Markus picked me up at my hotel. Along with Markus was his brother Born. We stopped along the way and picked up another collector Rolf and headed for the model kit show. Markus’s brother has coauthored several books on WWI planes. I mentioned a friend of mine had a company called Rosemont Hobby that had done some vacuum-formed WWI kits. He knew of the kits.
The ride was pleasant and as you can see from the photo above we passed several turbines. We arrived at the show and split up.
The dealers’ area was split into two different places. I was amazed to see all the different kits that had been put out. There were no soldiers except some 3D figures which did not interest me. I did pick up some Italeri accessory kits and two 1/72 scale airplanes including the one shown above.
Supermarket Time
I found out that even though Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands belong to the EU there are differences in what you can get in your respective country’s supermarkets. My car mates bought beer and pastries. I got some candy for Sherri and iced tea drinks. I saw these Lay’s potato chips but passed.
Night Meal
That night I went with another friend Peter Bergner and his wife Ute to a restaurant in downtown Herne. There we met other collectors we had known for years. Before going to the dinner I met Martin Dehnhardt. Martin is a friend of Axel Sohnius who I saw the next day. We talked for a moment before I had to go in. the meal was excellent and fun to connect with old friends. we left early to get ready for the big day.
Day Four German Adventure Finds
One of the items I got at the show was the Cane cavalry figures. They were done in blue and gray. My favorite is the guy advancing with the pistol.
Besides getting some Heimo Jungle Book in the suitcase find. I was able to pick up these two figures at the show.
Detlef gave me these Timpo copies from Argentina.
Axel Sohinus did these conversions of black Confederates.
I see . .you had a good time Paul
Detlef
I did my friend. Between the friendships, the food. and what I found it was fun from beginning to end.
