More items From The Collection Laurie’s Birthday, I share more items from the collection. Next, I honor Laurie’s birthday. I also share a fun photo with some friends.
The Collection Interesting Items
For nearly two years, I have been cleaning the house with the help of Sherrie. I have been finding many interesting items. In the photos, I found this photo. The photo shows Bob Burns, me, and Daniel Roebuck. It was taken at Bob’s place. I am holding a mask of the She Creature that was given out by AMC. Laurie and I had lots of fun on that trip.
Going through the collection I found several Marx figures in blue. None of the three figures Skyscraper, 60mm Indian, and Sir Gawain of Prince Valiant were sold in blue. One possibility is that these are test shots. What do you think?
An item I picked up recently was this Marx hard plastic truck. It is from the Marx Freight Terminal Playset. The freight terminal would work well with the Untouchables Playset. I have placed the truck up on Ebay.
Spanish plastic makers have made many interesting companies. One of these Jescan did Egyptians. They did foot and mounted. The figures were reissued. The Jescan figures worked well with the 1/32 scale Atlantic Egyptians and Supreme Egyptians.
Two more Spanish figures this time from Reamsa. I believe these were part of a stagecoach series. These are the reissued version. I have the original versions of these figures and will show them in the future.
Laurie’s Birthday
Also on the trip where we saw Bob and Dan, we went with another friend James Koval to Universal Studios. One event they had was a visit with Lassie. Before Laurie meets with Lassie some Japanese tourists are scared of Lassie. As you can see Lassie and Laurie became best of friends. February 16 will be Laurie’s birthday. We had many great memories like this. I miss her every day.
Some great pictures and memories, Paul. You have my warmest thoughts as you face this anniversary. It is the unthinkable that as we grow older we have to face. My thoughts are prayers are with you.
Paul,
I think you also showed a Skyscraper pharmacist figure in blue at one time.
I don’t think the Skyscraper figures have ever been re-issued, have they?
I think the 60mm blue figure on the left (in group of three) is by Gay Toys. They did a school bus, dump truck, and fire truck with blue soft plastic police, school children, crossing guard, firemen, and construct ion worker figures. Some have “Gay” on their backs. Made in 1970s and 1980s, I think. The sculpting is very similar to that done by Marx.
I have a complete set of the Marx Skyscraper figures in blue, including the security guy pictured. The plastic does not feel like a later, less flexible re-issue type. But still I would like to know if anyone has any knowledge about these figures in blue? Maybe re-issues? Maybe test shots?
I will.
like to see the base mold exit cavity below Marx blue figures .These looks like Easter European made clones I seen around often .
I have two Indians exactly colors and come from Hungary .
Mexico made the 60mm Indians in blue for a Fort Apache carryall sold in Mexico. After Marx went under a group of investors had a bunch of molds run in different colors to make sure they were in good shape and stored them away after they did not make a deal to buy the molds. Francis Turner acquired the lot and has been selling them on Ebay. He has had the Prince Valiant characters in a number of colors. I had a set in blue. Marx playsets had silver and Wards had cream.
Great photo of Laurie & Lassie!
Paul, please keep possting photos like this and any figures that have “fallen in the cracks” as you continue to clean house and get organized.
– – – -Curious about the blue “Marx” figures. I look forward to seeing what Erwin’s detective work turns up.
I wish the Reamsa reissue stagecoach figs were more common. These would be great for conversions. I really like to have civilian figures on my ACW diorama set-up.
I have the same question as TD Barncut– do the molds for the Marx skyscraper figures still exist? If not, maybe some company will scan and 3D print up a batch.
Toy sojer enthusiasts: please keep posting on Stad’s Stuff…it is still the best.
Hi Gary
I will be posting more photos and figures. I have so many interesting items to share.
I will be sharing a photo soon from Chris Salmon of the reissued Skyscraper figures. The mold is in South America.
