Various Figures: Collection, Ebay, Other Sources, I ran out of space in a previous post, so I want to share some interesting figures. First, some items from my collection one group I call adapting. Then, I share a photo from one of my Ebay offerings. Next, I share some photographs from friends who make figures or in the case of Steve Pyle, who does conversations that are winning awards.
Various Figures Collection Ebay My Collection
The figure on the left is the Ajax U.S. Army firing a machine gun. It is a copy of Barclay Podfoot’s figure. I used the Barclay figure to represent Lucas Trask the hero of Space Viking by H. Beam Piper. I had gotten the book on a day trip to New York City with my parents, and for many weeks after I made up my own stories somewhat based on the book.
I bring this up with our figures as we could make them something other than what they were set up for. The Star Wars figure I could see using as a SWAT person. The Marx Arstornuat is missing his stick I could use a person being robbed.
The figure on the left is from Tibidabo of Italy (thank you, Erwin, for the correction). The separate hat is attached. The hat usually gets lost. Occasionally I find a nice animal display such as the two chimpanzees.
Ebay
I got a group of Marx Indians in this odd color. Placing a photo of the figures on Facebook, I got an answer. The Indians were from one of the landfills. The figures had been yellow, but a reaction with the soil changed them to this color.
Other Sources
One of my enjoyments of this blog has been to share other people’s work. One of those people is Mike Predergast of Warhorse Miniatures. Mike has been doing some fantastic 3D work. His latest is some Indian women. He is also doing some Indian wigwams and teepees.
Another person I am happy to promote is Steve Pyle. I have shown many of the fine works he has done. This is his latest project Overrun. It is Arabs fighting Crusaders. I will show more in the future.
The first set of the Barbarians has been so successful for Conte Collectibles that Richard Conte has sent to China set two of the Barbarians.
Another item that Richard is working on is a new version of the flaming log. Here is Richard’s thoughts. “
Flames are one of the most difficult thangs to sculpt/reproduce…this Barbarian version is a vast improvement on our original Spartacus version. I wanted to capture the horrifying moments when the rolling log has busted through
We will be doing this in painted metal & it is looking as though the best option for plastic collectors will be ’single color metal’ sets made of resin and metal.
We are also working on rolling flaming spheres being pulled by one running or maybe a mounted figure”
Finally
My Detlef Heerband got these figures from a friend who had been in Kazakhstan. The friend got them from a seller in an under subway. The figures are soft plastic.
Great news about the second sets of Barbarians. I love the first set. Conte rides again!
Paul
The cowboy is not a plastic Charbens figure. I picked up a painted one on my travels in Spain and France, both with out the hat and a unpainted one in a bag of cowboys made in Hong Kong.
Thank you for the correction.
The Cowboy is by Tibidabo from Italy ,it was also copied in one different set sold in France under other brand-JEM ,but there packing market Tibidabo with such pose among others that are base in Marx poses .There also a catalog from 1976 from Tibidabo listing it. The Tibidabo set has 6 poses ,two are original and other 4 are copies of Marx .While the Jem set has “5 poses” so far ,3 are Marx copies and two are not ,included this poses in photo above I had send photos by email of both brand sets .
Best ..
Erwin
I got the photos and will use them in the next post. I have no idea where I got him. I like the pose.
Hopefully final point on the cowboy
His pose is adapted from the Cherilea 60 Wild West outlaw fanning pistol
