October 2023 Plastic Figure Showcase Conte, I start off with a preview of the package and colors Richard Conte going to use for his Barbarians. Next, I have a number of new items from Russia. Then I will show a new company doing 3D figures. Finally, Warhorse Miniatures reports on two shows.
October 2023 Plastic Figure Showcase Conte Collectibles
Richard Conte has shown on Facebook the bags for the Barbarians and different colors. Here is what Richard has said. At last, we inch closer….the ‘grey’ (as described by the factory). actually looks to have a green tint. The ‘beige’ pretty closely matches our original Viking color…..
As to when they will be available Conte said. Not certain about the arrival date. Hoping before Christmas but shipping and customs and then getting them across the USA from the port of Los Angeles to our hands is impossible to guess at this stage. As details emerge, they will be shared here
New Russian Figures
The Russians have been busy with new products. Here we have Publius Chinese Warriors.
From Hanomak Workers and Peasant Reds Fleet, you have six different figures. I like the hard hat diver.
I have shown some of these figures before. These are eight different figures from Cheklove (Little Man) for the Nuragic culture
Beleriand Apaches six different figures
I am not sure if I have shown these from Plastic Platoon from their Battle of Little Big Horn Set 2
Tithon has done Indian chiefs
New No Name Figure Sets
My friend Andrey has sent me photos of two new figure sets from No Name. The first one is WWII Germans which has eight poses.
Like the WWII Germans, the Russian set has 8 different figures in twelve poses. You can order the Germans from Andrey at this place. You can order the Russians at this location. Please remember your country’s restrictions on buying from Russia.
October 2023 Plastic Figure WW23D a Review
I was going through Facebook and found a new company WW23D that does 3D figures. They had two sets I was interested in American Medical and SAS in Head scarfs. Their prices are very reasonable. A single figure is $3.00 or you can get a set of 8 SAS figures for $20.00. I got my figures this week. First I was amazed at how well-packed the figures were. Not only were the figures in a hard box the figures were packed in small cardboard boxes. The quality of the figures is equal to Speira Miniatures. I think they may have some of their designs with Speira. I have placed a SAS next to a Marx reissue of WWII French. You see the figures at www.ww23d.com
Warhorse Miniatures Show Reports
Our good friend Mike Predergast has reported on two shows You can see that report here.
Are the WW23D figures very brittle or can they stand fairly “rough” handling? If one fell off a table would they bounce it off or break?Thanx.
WW23D have a remarkable variety of figures & vehicles available & the prices are very competitive – actually affordable to most collectors.
I know there are different qualities of the resin used in 3D printing, the tougher resins are typically more expensive. It will be interesting to know what manner of resin WW23D are using….?
They are using many of same files Speira uses as far i can see ,the resin types used in 3D printing on these files are generally very fragile base in my samples and purchase .However Mike Predergast’s new Figures uses far better semi flexible and fall resistance in his figures as i have purchased several last sets and test them well
Are you saying that the Speira figures being done now are made of this new resin and can stand up to being handled and played with better? I ask this because I have put off buying any 3-D printed figures because of how fragile they were. Thanks for any info you can share.
No ,no Speira .Mike Prendergast 3D new Figures he was making (last produced) sets are better material versus early ,i had tested last viking/ saxon made and drop then to the floor ,no weapons brake at all in several test i made ; however they are not soft plastic …Two things they need to avoid is ben exposes to cold or too hot temperatures for long period in storage .
I do not no know about Speira material recently .I purchased several lots early from them when they started but as their price had skyrocking out of necessity or ambition I stop buying them .No reason for 3d to go up in prices using resin as amount maker and possibilities had increased within last 5 years .
best regards..
Thanks! i thought you were talking about Speira. It is good to know that there is different 3-D printing filament that is more flexible and stronger that can stand up to being handled and played with being made now. I am hoping to get a 3-D printer sometime next year to make my own figures and will be looking for that type of filament to use.
As Erwin said they are similar to Speira so they can break. We are in the early stages of 3D printing. I still remember when dot Matrix printers cost $500.00 plus.
