August 2023 Odds Ends Deetail Variations, I bought a large lot of figures this past week which included a quantity of Deetail. Going through the Deetail I found some variations. Also, I found a few other interesting figures.
August 2o23 Odds Ends Deetail Variations Civil War
As I mentioned earlier I bought a large lot of plastic figures. The lot contains a number of Deetail figures. My surprise was in the Deetail Civil War figures. As you can see I found five paint variations of the officer. There might be others. I will have to look. I will also add original figures to this group.
The other variation is taking the ready figure and changing it to a drummer. I really don’t like it. what do you think of it?
Other Items Found
When you buy a large lot of figures you will find what I call oddballs. These are figures that are outplaced. An example is this figure. Is he a zoo keeper or something else?
Or you will find an odd package. This is a box called Sentry Box. I guess it was for a lead figure.
The previous owner made a conversion of the Timpo-mounted Grenadier officer to a German officer. He wanted to have an officer with his Britains Deetail marching Germans.
Occasionally you will find a figure that has been adapted to other uses. Here we have the officer from the American recoilless rifle. He has been placed on a Deetail base making an officer direct his troops.
August 2023 Odds Ends New Russian figures
Tithon of Russia has done five Landsknecht Camp figures. I like the figure with a mug.
Publius has a set of six different Teutonic knights. You can see them here.
Another Publius is six different French Hundred Years War knights. The set has a Joan of Arc.
Finally, Beleriand Toy Soldiers has a six medieval artillery figures.
The drummer conversion will look fine if he has drumsticks (easily made from pins).
That Timpo conversions of the mounted German looks swell.
I like the Britains civil war figure who has been converted with drum. I think I will try that with my ones that I have got. It is good seeing other peoples ideas.
The Civil War drummers don’t look too bad, but their hands don’t really line up with the drum very well. Even if they were holding drumsticks it would look a bit awkward.
The blue knights look so thin and that’s with full armor on. Without the armor they would be stick figures.
I agree on boths thoughts .Drummer looks odd pose ,no way to advance and use it like that ,drummer should in the side or back when advancing in such way .The french/”burgundian” knights looks like a modern repetition or AKA-Elio Simonetti-Fontanini style effeminate poses -artist figure statues rather than actual war action figures and indeed way too skinny body/legs arms and too tight armor .Unrealistic made .The second set late Medieval period look much better but the early gun is missing part unless shooting to the hares in the ground or mounted on a ship/wall .
The oddball marching figure is the officer from the Manurba/Domplast modern Germany army set.
thank you
