I also own several of those sets by Viikondo, Erwin. I’m not crazy about the loose, over-sized, hard plastic bases however, but otherwise, these fill the gaps in my WW2 Asian/Pacific campaigns.
Do you, or anyone else for that matter, know where we can order separate “flat style” bases for these or any other figures?
I’ve Google-searched without positive results.
I know some war gamers use small sections of linoleum tiles in their setups but I’m wondering if bases are sold exclusively by anyone?
Thanks in advance for any information that anyone can provide.
I understand your frustration with bases. That is why i glue one pose each from their set as mentioned in the post reviews I made .Unfortunately I have not info in any supplier of simple plastic flat bases .One suggestion could be buy cheap chinese Airfix clones and cut off their bases to be used in these new figures .Otherwise buy at craft/fabric store or any other store any thin layer lamines of plastic sheets that can be cut in many bases and used for as well as far the wight of cut part support the figure stable enough .my thoughts .
Thank you Erwin. That’s a good suggestion. Perhaps this opens an opportunity for someone to manufacture bases separately so that collectors can either replace thick, gaudy, surfaces of current figures or add them where they are missing.
I’ve found thin plastic sheets from places like Michael’s and Hobby Lobby work great for bases. I cut them to size for both baseless figures and those figures whose bases are so thin they have a hard time standing on their own.
I have a small plastic injector and can machine simple molds from aluminum plate. If you send me some idea of what you need the bases to look like – size, shape, dimensions, thickness, etc. I could try to make something you might use?
I use coffee lid plastic, or any other such lids. You can get them in just about any color, although you might have to buy some food item you’re less than thrilled with. The plastic is just thick enough to not be flimsy. It paints up fine, too. I like to keep a lot of black and silver-grey lids for most projects.
The Britains Confederate is a firing private with sword arm instead of firing one and the officer’s head.
The post-apocalyptic figure is based on one where there was a nuclear war in the 50s or 60s and the society which resulted. It is based on a computer game which I forget the title of.
The German with grenade looks like a BMC figure but I am not certain.
Hi James
The German figure has been id by Viikondo. Thanks for explaining the parts used on the Britains confederate. I like swoppets as you can make new figures without having to cut.
The grey figure is not a german ,is chinese and have chinese army 1934/36 uniform ,here is full set review .The grenade was one of many copies made by many army of former ww1 grenade .
