2022 One More Time Chintoys Gangsters, as I close out the year I have some figure news. First, Chintoys dropped a photo of gangsters that is coming next year. Next, Expeditionary Force has a January release.
2022 One More Time Police and Gangsters
Greg Liska’s Request
Greg Liska is looking for the following figures. I’m looking for about 30 or so Armies in Plastic Iron Bde figures cast in grey. Putting together an early war Confederate militia unit. I have about 50 now. I’m hoping to avoid having to paint blue ones. For some reason, the plastic that AIP uses is pretty paint-unfriendly. It chips far more easily than most other plastics. If you can help let me know.
2022 One More Time Expeditionary Force
Expeditionary Force has a new set coming out in January Royal Naval Landing Party.
The set contains 9 model soldiers comprising of 1 officer and 8 armed sailors. The heads and
arms are interchangeable to enable the assembly of different postures. There will be a pirate
set following that will have compatible loose parts for an even greater variety of assembled
figures.
their reference period for the design of this set is the War of 1812. These models should also
be appropriate for Naval landing battles for the entire Napoleonic period.
There are two common uniforms for seamen in onshore service. One is the jacket, in blue,
thus the epithet “Blue Jackets” for naval brigade soldiers. The other is the loose shirt tucked-
is usually on fatigue duties.
The main weapons for land service is the musket, with the cartridge pouch on a shoulder
belt, and the cutlass. The blunderbuss is especially favored in the Navy for boarding
actions.
The queue was retained in the Navy for a much longer period than in the Army, which
abolished it in 1808.
Two styles of hat are observed, the flat-brimmed hat and the narrow-brim top hat. To better
preserve the hats and to water-proof them, they are often painted with tar, thus the nickname
“Jack Tar” for a sailor.
Other Expeditionary News
The next release (March 2023) will be the Arab Cavalry set. There won’t be any new release
in February 2023.
Due to the long Chinese New Year holidays in January 2023 in China, we have decided to
take a break and won’t be starting toolings in January 2023. Many Chinese workers are
planning to take sorry I can’t show photos but Scott changed his format and I am having problems. Hopefully, when Rahway gets the consumer version I can do photos.
FINALLY
I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year. I hope this next year is better. This year 2022 was a rough one for me.
I hope 2023 will be a good (better) year for you, with good (better) health and much happiness.
The gangsters would also make good partisans and assorted civilians in wargames.
Paint retention: Was figures in detergent, soak a day in vinegar, rinse and dry thoroughly. Undercoat with clear car plastic undercoat followed by a good spray white, black or grey undercoat. I prefer games Workshop sprays although expensive. After painting coat figures with Modge Podge or PVA. The former says to wait a month before putting further coats. Modge Podge is a mix of PVA and varnish. I then use a spray artist fixative – Crystal Coat Mat which further seals and gives a satin finish. others might prefer other final coats. One thing with overcoats don’t use an acrylic varnish over enamels as it will crinkle. You can see results at my blog, Quantrill’s Toy Soldiers.
Also, if some paint does chip off coat the area with PVA or Modge Podge before repainting. One thing, though, with using PVA and MP is spread it thinly or it will bubble and look unsightly. Otherwise it dries clear.
Gangsters would be good for 1920’s Irish Troubles and some figures for Strike Breakers.
Great idea
.Thanks
Happy New Year
Happy New Year and Happy Health to Paul and all the readers! I hope everyone’s New Year’s Resolution is to post more photos and info right here at the one and only “Stad’s Stuff”!
There are also some good 1/32 scale prohibition era die cast vehicles out there to collect, which go well with Untouchables & these new gangsters. Cars, trucks, police vehicles, etc. There are several brands, all appear to be made in China, possibly coming out of the same factory!?
One observation about the various gangster figure photos…
The top photo shows complete one- piece figures in green plastic.
The Ukraine auction photo shows some of the same poses but with separate bases of a different color – might be the original sculpts? Notice the flapper figure, with a flat white base in the Ukraine photo but with a different base in the completed green figures. Kind of puzzling but great figures!
Motormint makes a good selection of “Gangster” era cars, vans, trucks also check out Tonkas Rat-a Tat-Tat car.
In plastic diecast replicas on 1/32 .Sunnyside,Signature Models,National Motor Museum Mont ,ERTL,matchbox and few others too .
Yes, Motormint and also look at Popak 1/32 cars.
Some may be used as resistance in ww2 period ,spies ,Irish independence rebellion (1920s/30s),Spanish civil war,Germany post great world war period and more .
oh, how Amazing you posted about the gangsters, thanks for being a great and wholesome news source. I have been on armies in plastic Facebook page, and they were dropping hints on new figures (not old figures run in different colors, except Zulus but they would be great to have back), I’m just hoping that they were not saying stuff like that to appease people.
Two of the Chintoy police officers with rifles may also be used as Mexican Federales.
The Chintoy Elliot Ness figure could also be made into a German gestapo figure.
Nice !
