Islamic Forces Expeditionary Force Update, Scott has two more sets for this year. Islamic spearmen and Arab weapons. I know people will want Arabic weapons for conversion. Here are the details
Islamic Forces Expeditionary Force New Sets
Dear All,
Greetings from Singapore!
To be in time for the coming Christmas, very pleased to inform you of the release of two
new sets as follows:-
60 ALB 01 Islamic Arab Spearmen (include weapons)
60 ALB WQ Arab Weapons (hard plastics)
All models are supplied unpainted.
Available for shipping in December 2022, if not earlier.
60 ALB 01 Arab Spearmen
The set contains 9 model soldiers comprising of 1 officer and 8 infantrymen plus hard-plastic
weapons. The heads, arms, and shields are interchangeable to enable the assembly of
different postures. There will be additional sets following that will have compatible loose
parts for an even greater variety of assembled figures.
Our reference period for the design of this range is the 14 th Century to match with our
existing Medieval range of models.
By this period, the Islamic world has fragmented into a number of independent regimes such
as the Mamluks in Egypt, and the Ottomans in Anatolia. Notwithstanding the various ethnic
groups in power, the Arab Spearmen remain an important component of Medieval Islamic
Armies.
Arab Spearmen are shock troops and are often protected by body armor, often non-metal. Quilted fabric corselets and rawhide lamellar armor are widely available. The head turban is light and is meant for protection against the sun (and sandstorms).
There are two main groups of Arabs, the settled Arabs (especially the Hejazi), and the desert nomad Arabs (the Bedouin). We have designed the spearmen based on the Hejazi Arabs, wearing boots with tunics reaching below the knee. The Bedouin Arabs, which travel on camels, mainly wear sandals with tunics reaching the ankles. They will be covered in a later box set (see photo shots of the Arab Archers below).
Early Arab swords are straight-bladed. The curved saber is introduced by the horse-riding Turks, first the Turcoman, then the Seljuk. By the 14th Century, both are common.
60 ALB WQ Arab Weapons
There are 24 items in the sprue and there will be 8 sprues in a box set. The weapons are 4 cavalry lances (10cm); 4 infantry spears (8cm); 4 javelins (5cm); 4 hand weapons – sword, saber, axe, and mace; and 8 side-arms at the waist-belt.
The other models in the range:-
Arab Archers (Bedouin dress). The last figure is Ali, the 4th Rashidun Caliph.
NEXT RELEASE
The next release (January 2023) will be the War of 1812 Naval sets, starting with the Royal Navy Landing Party followed by the Pirates at New Orleans.
Looking forward to your kind support.
Stay safe.
Cheers,
Scott
Nice and as usual many sets and variation from EXF .
I can’t wait to get these!
I’m quite excited.
As usual very nicely done by Ex Force. A wide variety of shields, weapons and heads. I have to laugh though at the helmet on the last archer, it looks like Red Grange and the days of leather football helmets.
I was able to get the Engineer Bassevich Byzantine set before the War and these Arabs will make good opponents for them also.
like these, but is there a u.k. stockist for them–or where can i order them.–looking forward to the MAHDI series of figures in the sudan–cant wait. can you post pictures of the coming sets and give any idea of when they will be released.
Try Steve Weston on the figures.
Great looking figures !
These figures look great and a much needed historical army group in our hobby. But I wish they were more in the 54-56MM range.
I’ve ordered other figures such as Napoleonic and Civil war from EXF and to “my eyes” fit fine with other 54mm figures from other companies.
Nevertheless, I can appreciate those collectors who don’t mind the 60mm range and their enthusiasm for these figures. The detail and poses are amazing.
when will the mahdi/sudan figures become available, and what will they be composed of, arabs -british-camel corps etc ?–thank you , bill cowan . email me at avbill@hotmail.co.uk.
