Part Two August 2022 Flea Market Time

Part Two August 2022 figures
Since my accident, one thing I wanted to do was a flea market. I had to wait until I was able to use a cane instead of a walker. I finally was able to do it this past week. Since I could not sleep I got up early. In this market, people are running around with flashlights. I got there and started walking down the only row with lights. One dealer had a Remco WWI tank, but he wanted market price. I pass as I was not looking for anything to add to my collection. I did not see any other items as I got to bottom of the row. I found a spot to sit and watch the people running around with their flashlights. I also saw that the people were not finding anything. I talked to one person that he was looking for anything for resale. After a while, I head out. A dealer had set up with a mass of Marx Playsets he had bought at an auction. He wanted to sell the lot as one unit for $1500.00. I looked over it and realize it would be a hassle to resort and pass.

My only find was a little box with Hong Kong Western figure parts. Also in the box were these four items. The horse on the left is by Fleetwood which made it for the Legend of the Lone Ranger. It is a Tonto’s horse. I have no idea who made the next two figures. The Indian is by Michel of France.

 Superheroes
Here are some more items from my very good friend Peter Evans. It is a mix of various fantasy and superheroes. The second figure on the left is a Lord of the Rings figure. I have a spear for him.
Remco Roman
When I first started to drive after the accident, I would rest after I put the back up getting the walker out. The one time I spotted in the gutter this Remco Roman standard bearer. I figured that he must have fallen out of one of the junk boxes I got in June. He picked up and will be kept despite his condition.

Part Two August 2022 Odds Plastimarx 1961 Catalog

Our friend Rahway spotted the following listing on Ebay for a 1961 Plastimarx Catalog. the catalog is 60 pages. The seller has listed several pages including some of the figures available at that time. I figured the original owner was a train collector. It sold for $78.00. Check it out before the pictures disappear.

The first pic is my favorite. I don’t have the Tonto horse, but I wish I did. Nice find!
The little dancing boy is a bit silly, but nicely sculpted. Maybe a ‘Peter Pan: figure?
If he was common, I’d modify the ballet hands and paint him to look like barefoot waif from ACW times.
The white plastic fig on his side might be an English footballer. A skilled painter could modify him to be a wounded soldier….
The kneeling Indian is likely Michel. I don’t have this exact figure, but I have quite a few Michel cowboys ‘n’ Indians.

The next photo featuring the mix of fantasy figs doesn’t do much for me. But, a non-fantasy-fig-collector could say the ” Marx Warriors of the World” don’t float his boat, either.
As for the damaged Roman fig… I would, of course, keep him. I walk a few miles every day at area parks. I often find “squished” figures.
Finally (at last!), the 1961 Mexican Plasticraft sales catalogue is a gem!
The only thing missing is a Sears/REMCO/ IDEAL/Hasbro Time Machine so you can actually go back in time and scoop up all those beautiful replica weapons!

Lastly: I love the Stad’s Stuff website. Please post pics and posit opinions.

For Christmas one year back in the sixties, when I was about ten, I got the Remco “Big Caesar” Roman warship for Christmas, and my little brother, who was five, received the non-motorized, smaller “Little Caesar” boat. His figures were yellow, like the standard bearer you found in the gutter, Paul. My figures were molded in silver and red (same poses, different colors), and I was very disappointed because they were all marching figures–no action poses at all! My ship also came with a cardboard castle that I put together. I still have a few of these figures, but I’ve never liked them much. I’m glad you are able to get around with a cane now, Paul. Keep up the rehab and take care!

I did not have the Remco Big Caesar and did not want it as it took up too much room. I am trying to do rehab as I can. I will do a toy show next month.
