I did some of the ‘radioactive urine’ colored ‘Chinese’ figures up in a ‘CTS recast Airfix Russian’ green and added them to the unit that is built around them
The brown Commies needed no painting at all and went into my unit based around Atlantic Russians.
I added a few pics showing the different types of Russians in each unit, giving a size comparison. These guys seem to weigh in at 53mm with the base raising them up. They look quite good
AGREED.
Size wise, they look acceptable to me!
Thanks for the useful photo.
Greg, when you say you painted some of the Hing Fat figures, did you brush paint them, or spray paint them? Did you wash them first? Did you prime them? I’m asking these questions because I’m thinking of painting some of my own figures, all in one color however, as you have done. Any particular brand or type of paint?
I have a couple of guys that do conversions for me. To match them all up I color them all the same color. This really helps if some figures are not the same size. Some I spray paint, much easier. But for others, an example, Germans. I take a Conte German to Home Depot paint Department. They then mix a small can of paint, $3, to match the color of the figure. Then I paint the converted figures by hand to match the Conte, the match in color is about 98% and when placed altogether you cannot see the difference.

Thanks, Gary. Do you wash your plastic figures first for better paint adhesion, and then prime before painting?
No, I just paint them. However when I store them they are all laid seperately in boxes. In other words I don,t just throw them all in a bag or in a pile in a box. Never really had any paint peeling problems.
It realy is amazing when each figure is the same color an Airfix figure works with a Conte figure. Now that is viewing them from a few feet away but who looks at dioramas inches away?
Gary
Tomorrow the French in tan will be dry. I’ll take pics and send them out. I’ll have them next to the Marx guys for comparison.
