Plastic Figure Showcase December 2021 Figure Comparsion

The Lido figure looks like it is missing the clip for the carbine. As a kid, I would have loved to have the T Conn G.I. poses to add to my MARX G.I.’s. I was then and still am a pose person and always thought that the more poses I had the better battle scenes I could do. I never had the MARX marines, (Except the two that came with the medical series G.I.’s.), until I got some recast ones about 1990.
GREAT Warhansa figures. Love the Female Warriors. Paul your site is TERRIFIC it always has something of interest from old to new figures & the latest hobby news. Thanks for all you years of hardwork.
Another round of great photos! Thank you!
For Rich’s buildings, I think they would fit in great for the diorama suggestion. It’s all about what you what to put together! I am curious as to their material–paper? wood? (I have some paper model buildings in a WWII diorama.)
For the 5″/6″ riflemen, I must lean to the Marx as that is what I had as a kid. I am seeing more and more larger scale Lido figures I am not so familiar with though, so that is really cool.
Brings back memories of my older brother and I pouring over the SEARs and Penny’s catalogs when we were kids. The prices! When one considers what the average folks earned back then…
I like both Marx and Lido figures. I was lucky enough to have had both as a kid. They both have their flaws; the M-1 for the Mx figure is undersized whereas the rifle that sort of looks like an mM-1 carbine would be oversized and it would need a magazine to be any good to anybody but the enemy. The Mx head seems somewhat oversized to me, too.
I had that T-Cohn set. I traded it for Marx Japanese. I got 35 Marx Japanese soldiers for giving up that set. I think I came out ahead. I never saw a Marx set with Japanese growing up.
As to the Marines. I ended up with about 6 poses in golden tan. It confused me a lot! I ended up adding them to the Japanese just to punch up their numbers and it gave them a flamethrower. I also didn’t see or own a full set of Marines until they were recast in the 90’s. Has anybody noticed Jeff Imel is recasting them in an outstanding olive color?
I remember seeing a MARX trade catalog at a store a friend of mine’s father owned. In it was a photo of a “History in the Pacific” set. It was the first time I had seen the MARX Japanese and thought they were neat and wanted that set. I got it for my birthday and played with it all the time at my Grandmothers. In her back yard there was a woodchip pile that looked like an island because it was surrounded by the grass. It even had some grass and other plants growing up in it that made a little jungle area. I had so much fun with that set. I remember being excited getting recast of the Japanese when I got the MARX Marines.
Never understood why Marx made a “Surrendering”Japanese when they hardly ever did and not a German pose.
Me too. I used them as artillerymen trying to cover their ears… it worked for me.
Lone Star made some surrendering Afrika Korps in 54mm. Some of their best figures!
The Marx pose set belong to full set shows here in a mint pack sale off eBay as well.

The warhansa cavemen is a direct copy base in most Marx poses just with some variation and more crude or should say realistic body built .
Hey a cave man version of the Airfix footballers would be great!
