Plastic Figure Showcase Plastic Platoon, I am taking a break from Sandown Toy Show photos. There is some new plastic figure news. First, we have a final look at the makeup of the Plastic Platoon Revolutionary War Colonials. Second, I take a closer look at the Publius French Revolution soldiers. Next, Moscow had a toy soldier show where we get some news including the first figure for a set called”In Search of Shambhala”.

- Oiffcer with pistol and sword.
- Boy holding upspear or halbred.
- Advancing firing a blunderbuss.
- Standing firing rifle
- Reaching for ammunition for rifle
- With a tomahawk and knife.
The two new poses are interesting. The figure with tomahawk and knife is inspired by the movie “The Patriot“. what do you think about the other pose?

These “Toy Soldiers” ( basically, miniature statues and museum set-pieces) are fantastic and exciting. I’m assuming they are done with 3-D printers…?
Many hobbyists enjoy painting figures. I did it for years. The simplified Marx, Timmee, MPC, BMC figures made it easy and enjoyable. I love Napoleonic uniforms and militaria, but the many belts, buttons, cuffs, trim, etc… made the painting process too tedious for me. Shakos off to those miniaturists who can do it!
Same for many of the British AWI from makers like Accurate.
With that in mind, I’m wondering if the same computer technology could create a 3-D paint machine. After the plastic dries, the computer paint jets can airbrush-paint all the intricate details in Historically authentic detail ( or custom-ordered matte/gloss/fantasy colors?).
Just an idea…
Also… as “action-packed” and unique as these figs are, a collector’s army display still needs a few “sojers” standing firing/kneeling firing” to make up the ranks…
This is a great hobby, and Stad’s Stuff is STILL the best site.

Gary, not 3D printed, handcrafted, injection-molded, a pliable kind of rubbery SP plastic
Wow, Chris! That’s amazing! I’m glad to hear it. Even though the 3-D printers can do cool stuff, I’m glad to see actual sculpting and injection-molding are not lost arts. Thanks for the correction.
