Publius French Revolution

Chicago Show
The show itself is this Sunday the room trading has already started. We will be getting reports in and watch the postings. If you are going let us know your thoughts. Also, stop in and see Ed Borris give him a hello as he has had to stop doing his conversions. We will not be at the show.
The Marines have very long faces, just a bit odd looking. What’s with the coarse stitching on the seams of their clothing?
I agree ,the PP marines uniforms unless these are pre-design before make or/and 3D computer program on work .
The odd I notice ..
So far they are wearing what looks like early HBT P-41 Fatigue Shirt but often call by marines themselves” utilities”
The seams been one of the most obvious odd detail as TT mentioned ,while at close looks in war images some appear to have double seams ,it is very hard notice unless very close .
The USMC words in shirt pocket (flapless pockets) are way too large I think ,unless is just image computer and not finished figure product .
The boots detail sole is like a brand new shoe never used ,yet they looks like been in action for long as clothing uniforms have holes and wore off a lot in figures .
In the pro side .
I like poses made so far .
The front leg of pose with bazooka is correct ,it is taken from exact moment the soldier slide in to the knee position while in movement ,he is tilting his foot heals in order to stop on sand .Is a movement action cut in image only ,not quite the definitive static classic pose that come right after ,not common but nice been done .The figure show a lot of moment in it .
Depiction of water cooled MG(Actually a 30 calb M1917 Browning machine gun) not 50 calb is nice very well done .The marines are representing so far mid late 1942 campaign as far they look.
Interesting of well depicted type 98 -no samurai sword.
Japanese officers from NCO to generals in the infantry and cavalry carry and used shin guntō swords or sabres models type 94,95 and 98 ,all mass machine produced using not samurai sword technique and differed in production style ,scabbard ,handler design and many features, while blade was made to resemble late period samurai swords ,they are not quite samurai swords
The swords sabre depicted is a type 98 .
The base terrain with palm pieces and MG scene looks very nice realistic .
I’m ok with faces as they have open jaw gestures .
I will be the first to say I am not an expert on weapons. thank you for the update.
I agree the seams on the Marine utilities are over-emphasized. As was suggested it may be due to the tooling. I imagine if they didn’t emphasize or left them out there’d be comments. I like the samurai sword. It reminds me of the one my uncle brought back from Saipan. As far as the bazooka man pose goes, it’s a legitimate position to brace oneself when firing a weapon like that. Even the old M72 LAW had a bit of a kick to it if you were firing a real one and not the 40mm trainer. It threw a lot of guys off on their aim when they’d been practicing with practice rounds and finally fired a real round.
The Publius French Revolution? One of my favorite eras. I might choke down the price and splurge on this set. Then I will set them up in a display case and just look at them.
Where the sculpt goes wrong is the knee is inverted too much in the wrong direction. It looks like he’s injured his knee. Hopefully it can be rectified because they are nice sculpts and great poses (as usual).
LOD – as usual has knocked it out of the park. I have to say the ARW cavalry are at the top of my Christmas list. Thankfully I’m Santa so if Mrs Santa falls through…
I just got back from the Chicago Show and saw the new X-Force WW 2 Far East British in person. They were in a horrible dark red-brown, unlike ANY WW2 British Uniform that I have ever seen. I was very dissapointed, and did not buy any as I had planned to. I have no idea why this color was chosen.
If is the same depicted in the web site .They pick that colors as base for several camo/colors used .The British colors in uniforms often varied by units and commonwealth unit users .The brown types were varied and some had that rust shade definitely .Several books show it being used .Matchbox release them in that color shade or alike as well Atlantic .

Yes, I’ve owned the Matchbox and Atlantic 1.32 Brits in those similar shades…..but these new ones from X-force, are a deeper rust when you see them in person…..no dark khaki in them at all. Just not appealing to me, but hopefully others will find them useful, as I like many of their other WW 2 offerings.
Any news on the Chicago show or the Midlands show (UK) yet? Thanks.
On Midlands, this is what I received I heard that the Midland toy soldier show was a bust – very few through the doors and not much buying. Very likely affected by the fuel shortages.
Chicago was okay some did good others not.
Thanks
