Memorial Day
I hope you took a moment out to remember the people who died to keep this country free as you took part in our gatherings. I was able to do a flea market after two days of rain. Laurie and I had anice quiet day. We had pork barbecue sandwich for lunch and hot dogs for dinner. Laurie and I hope you had a good day as well.
The 7v Cavalry should be 54/56 mm max to top hat ,not 60 mm, the measure image may look confusing as taken from bellow angle .
When taken photo of figures next to a ruler or comparing figures between each others, the correct way is lining all figures and take photo direct face front not in angles, sides, elevated angles or lower angles as it may create wrong perception or views.
Other good points reference is line up the figures next to other by shoulder high and use the best straight up poses facing against or same alike action poses with legs flex alike so they match in approximately correlation as one pose straight standing versus one with open flex leg will definitely show one higher than other when is not the true.
Also photo should be taken by pointing central focus lens mark on torso of figure or the closest central area not farther than 12 inches away .
Best
I do not care for manufacturers that put the sprue attachment points on rifle sides (or thin sections that must be trimmed), bayonet, and pistol ends etc. Basevich did this on their white Russian set. It seems a better layout could have been utilized.
Waterloo had done it before with previews sets .Least this time they made bases flat with terrain .Before they used a rare not well balanced pedestal style base on figures .Surprisingly their type stiff plastic used is extremely hard to brake when pull/cut off from sprue .When I first got the WW 2 Italian set I though they will brake and after try many time none did .Is not like others more fragile .
IMO the Waterloo Custer figures might not fill an entire “unit” but will make good reinforcements or fillers for sets they are compatible with. They might be on the thin side compared to TSSD or Paragon, I’ve already said they remind me a lot of the old Atlantic style, but considering different body types etc. for me it won’t be a deal breaker.
I finally got through to Rick Conte personally last night via e-mail (for some reason I couldn’t get my password recognized on my account) and he was able to square me away quickly on my order. Looking at these pictures today makes me look forward even more to getting them as they seem to bridge the gap, so to speak, between the various offerings out there. I don’t think they’re too out of line with the TSSD figures with whom I planned to place them and what difference there is IMO serve to give variety and realism to any scenario. I would have preferred a better color match (why I didn’t go red or gold) but I think it’s close enough for “Wood” work playing around.
I had not done photos with EXF romans yet but I did over 140 photos showed in my FB link post ,it show Conte with Persians and Greeks by EXF that are about same or exact scale as EXF romans .I think more enough to show how Conte looks next to most brands new and old .
I’m so glad the Waterloo 1815 Custer figures are available! Glad they made them in the perfect shade to match my Airfix recasts and Marx. What a great set this looks to be.
I bet some others as well but aldo they are standard basic poses.
Airfix and Britain poses have much in common too.
Plastic platoon did alike poses.
The prone pose snd loading are nice add in this set.

I have to agree 200%, Eddie! GUARANTEED that fragile parts will break when cutting off sprue. Not the best design.

Only pose repeated that may need to be converted is Custer.
Rest set poses have a lot conversion choices too.
My thoughts
No comparison with Ex Force Romans yet. The Ex Force sets were the nicest Roman sets done until this Conte set.

The Waterloo 1815 cavalry figure firing pistol and holding rifle is very similar to the Britains-Hearld cavalry figure.
Yes, that is true.Very good observation.
I guess Britain and these are base in a painting i seen before but can not recall which one.
The Waterloo 1815 us cavalry figure standing firing rifle is also very similar to the Britains deetail cavalry figure.
