Conte Collectibles Barbarians Preview Figures

Conte Collectibles Barbarians Preview
As we wait for the Conte Collectibles Roman. Richard Conte has started showing some of the Barbarians that will be in Barbarians sets one and two. Here we have a Barbarian charging with an ax and the head of the enemy. I will have to get this one for Laurie as she likes a figure like this.

This is photo shows four poses. they are as follows.
  1. Running with an ax overhead.
  2. Ready to throw a spear with shield.
  3. Running with sword and shield.
  4. Firing an arrow into the air

I wonder if the first pose was inspired by the Timpo swoppet knight running with sword overhead?

Barbarian with his sword up in his right hand and a banner in his left hand.
Barbarian woman
Barbarian woman with an ax and a dagger. Conte is thinking of separate arms for the female figure. they would be a sword arm and an arm with a shield so you could have a Viking woman.
Barabarian with sword
This is a great pose of the Barbarian possibly a leader with a sword up in the air. I will show more in another post.

Germanic tribes Women warriors are described by several Roman historians as strong part of thir war culture.
    They often fight alongside men.
While described in legends by others or in few cases as leaders of dome tribes on cells.
In german culture was very common practice by historical research accounts.

These Barbarian figures look outstanding and i want to get some but it depends on there scale size, Does anyone know if they are 54mm, 60mm, 65mm?

  5. AJ says:

Out of curiosity, I just pulled out a Conte surgeon, with interchangeable arms, that came with Alamo figures. He measures at right around 54mm from foot to head, not including the base.

  6. AJ says:

Also, Richard has eBay listings for “1/32” and “54mm” figures.

    • ERWIN SELL says:

The FFL and Arabs were made in the old 54mm while all ww2 are far bigger and Thick in volume body than any Airfix,marx,esci,MPC1/32,the Spartans are the largest, the norman and viking or saxon pass all “54 mm” Marx vikings.
The ACW and Mexican are bigger than All Marx “54 mm” Mexican and , ACW .
The last time I check it was CONTE the one spark the new 1/30 scale line production that most maker had follow since and went away from traditional old 54 mm ,but aperantly some forgot it now.
      Oh well…
To me I do not care as I always find a match and Conte are the best of true toy soldiers made in last years, so I will buy wherever he get out not matter the scale .

    • ERWIN SELL says:

Interesting. The same seller has the Barzso merry men large huge figures listed as 1/32 with head card under LOD as 1/32 printed
These figures are 65 mm from foot yo head top not counting helmets and only match blend Marx 60 mm merry men thst again are 63/65 mm
Conte is know as 1/30 range x most their figures.

So I guess it depend in ruler used

  7. Wayne W says:

When my wife got me the Barzso “Robin Hood” playset for Christmas I dragged out all my Medieval figures for a battle royale. I knew the Conte figures dwarfed my old Marx “Fighting Knights” and vikings and 54mm Robin Hood figures, along with some Britains copies I’d picked up along the line. They were not only a hair taller (not too much) but were thicker, fuller. At the same time they weren’t quite 60mm and didn’t match my then-new Barzo Robin Hood Merry Men and Sheriff’s men which were perfect mates for my 60mm Marx Robin Hood figures and Sheriff’s men.

I’ve found that to be true of all my Conte figures – bigger than the “old” “traditional” 54mm figures but not quite 60mm either. They fall somewhere in between. I have the pictures if someone is interested I could send them to Paul.

If anyone is looking for BMC Army Women, Kent has them in 3 different colors on his website.

  9. Darren Hatley says:

The reason i ask is that i brought some Conte Vikings and Normans some years ago and they are about 54mm or slightly bigger which is what i want, However when the Conte Spartans came out to my horror they were much bigger at 62mm or bigger so i never brought any. As everyone knows i’m very fussy about scale size, So if these New Barbarian figures are 54mm i will definately buy some, If they are about 60mm i might buy some, But if they are over 60mm i definately Wont buy them, And seeing as Conte figures scales are all over the place just like many companies are these days i need to know the true scale of these figures so that i know wether to buy some or not, So if anyone can help please do?

  10. Darren Hatley says:

    Ok thanks for the info.
