Collection Time
Mattel made a series of figures in 1988 called 1988. These figures are 70mm. Two of the figure sets from this series are Underwater Demolition Team and Laser Fighters. Each set had ten different poses. It is something we come back at another time.
Nice WWII figures. Looks like the standing rifleman & seated sniper are armed with the 03 Springfield instead of the M1 rifle-nice touch. About time these guys realized wars were waged in Winter.
The Mars winter infantry look great will be getting 4 sets of these when they come out. Would like Mars to do a support group to go with these mortars, bazookas also browning machine guns.
Really excited about the new Mars US Infantry; I am definitely snatching up a few boxes of these and their new US paratroopers (can’t pass on Airborne troops) first chance I get. These will probably not only be used for WW2 Winter but also stand in for Korea as well. I don’t know if they’ll augment the TSSD guys with scale or not, but that’s okay, too. By now, I guess we’ve all reconciled ourselves to have two types of “1/32” scale figures and either collect one or the other or both and deal with the differences in our own ways.
I agree with James – I hope Mars supplements them – particularly if they’re too out of scale with TSSD.
They do not stand too well by TSSD ,yet as TSSD winter are not too tall they may blend.
Mars made some figures a bit taller than others alike Airfix did.
They will save the poor made CTS winter made with ugly 3 poses and huge hands
I will blend them w Matchbox officer x Korea war.
ALike wise the Mars winter Russian can be used as Koreans too along DGN Chinese made set of Soviets.
I love the Easter Island diorama–the figures are beautiful! Also that Mattel scuba guy is pretty snappy too! Indeed, show us more from this series.
The Mattel series was call GUTS. Released in 1986 .
Figures about 60/65 mm scale soft plastic and each army-force /or type soldier has about 10 poses each ,there is dog(GS) also included .
Series are name as follow . Laser fighters, Green berets ,Ground troopers ,Aikido force ,Jungle fighters, underwater demolition team and army men .They are fairly common loose for a 1.00 at action figures toy shows as not value to them much ,off eBay if loose they may be sold from 2.00 to 4.00 each and if in packs are much more expensive .
At soldier shows they are often sold x more as they match many of our scales range .
I have a huge lot them and sold most ,kept one each now with full collection in all poses .
Here is one sample seller with full set of underwater demolition team force .

Thanks a lot, Erwin! Interesting figures, and a nice add to my eBay watch list.
Your welcome .another brand less known made a series alike in competition most likely ;Panosh 1987 ,but they are more cartoonish like .Still they may be good in some poses or removing weapons as artillery else crew .
Sorry I meant to say made by Panosh Place company in 1987 .

I painted my UDTs Flat Black.I really like the figure with the silenced AK.
It has baffled me how TSSD did a set of ww2 Germans in winter clothing and not a set of US infantry other than four figures. Would have loved them to have done a set of US cavalry in winter clothing. Which would have made a change than just doing the same old cavalry.
Wow ! Mars GI’s look amazing ! Kudos to the Makers and Painters ! Lot of excellent and interesting Figures on this page ! Love all the never before covered subjects !
battle of the bugle????
Mars is getting better ,they still need work on weapons and mold .figures were junction of body parts show mold defects and some figures out many sets often coming with defects .The poses are nice but lack repeated poses force collectors buy multiple sane sets. Paint make a lot better out them .Their diversity in not common sets release is the best they got and attract most buyers .I notice some figures from one set versus others are considerable smaller. Almost or AKA 1/35 versus 1/32.
