Expeditionary Force Japanese Future Items Archers

Expeditionary Force Japanese Future Items Archers, we finish up our look at the new Japanese figures. Also, Scott’s future sets including medieval archers and Imperial Guards of Napoleonic Wars.

Expeditionary Force Japanese Future Items Archers Grenades

Japanese grenade
This set of grenade arms was originally meant for the first box-set but due to tooling constraints, we can only slot it into this second set. The knee-mortar will be covered in a later set. The special harness of a knee-mortar man requires it to be separately sculpted and produced.

Machine gun
54 PWJ 02-MG    Machine-Gun Section
This set contains 9 model soldiers comprising of 1 officer, 2 heavy machine guns plus crew (4 figures), a light machine gunner, with sub-machine gun option, and 3 riflemen. This set shares the same parts and models as 54 PWJ 02 except that 2 machine guns are provided with a reduction in the number of riflemen.

We have assembled the grenade-thrower in a different combination. The head and flag can be placed onto any of the other models as desired.
Japanese officer

As mentioned before, the Japanese soldier has at least two types of battle dress: the regulation tunic as presented in this set; and a tropical jungle battle dress which we will be producing in a later set. It has always been our intent to keep the models of a box-set within the same tactical context and thus all the models of this set wear the same helmet for uniformity. The later sets will have netted helmets and fatigue caps. The Special Naval Landing Force will have the fabric covered helmet.

Future Sets

Medieval archers
The next set in the production queue is a 60mm Medieval Bowmen of England but the sculpts to be released in early December 2020. The set is designed to supplement our existing range of 60mm medieval soldiers, especially the armed peasants recently released.

I like how this figure is armed.
Napoleonic drummer
We are also working to complete the Imperial Guards for the Napoleonic Wars.

I am looking forward to the French Imperial Guard figures. I’m not sure, but the image on the Guard drummer’s drum looks to me like a crown and “GR” cipher, the royal symbol of Britain’s King George III (in Latin, “rex” means “king”). Glorious figure otherwise.

As usual, some beautiful figures. I’ve kind of slowed in my buying since dealing with COVID, a combination of energy deficiency in the recovery and resultant lack of motivation combined with backlog and sheer lack of space for storage. Actually chewing on downsizing my collection of eras and scales I’ve lost interest and how to do it while figuring out which areas I want to stay in.

I wouldn’t mind adding to my Japanese collection and these fill some gaps if they’ll fit with my other figures. By the same token I’m always interested in Napoleonics and the archers’ scale would probably go well with my Barzso Robin Hood figures… decisions, decisions…

Wait Wayne are you saying you been with Covid19!?
If so I wish you the best prompt recovering please..
It had been a very bad year and cruel for many ,several friends of mine and families passing because of it ,sad
      wish you best !!!
      Best regards

Thank you for your kind words and thoughts Erwin. I had it for most of August – was in bed for three weeks. Several members f my family had it, too as they were staying with us temporarily when we were exposed. I had it particularly rough, though thankfully I wasn’t hospitalized there were a couple times I didn’t think I was going to make it and a few I didn’t want to. But I’ve been COVID-free and for now immune since early September Even though I am up and around and pronounced COVID-free for so long I am still somewhat weakened and short-winded. I understand from others with whom I’ve spoken it can take some time to fully “come back.” But, as with the symptoms it varies from person to person.

          Wayne.

          best regards

I like EXF and support them overall always ,However there some things I see wrong. They have tendency to do figures with anatomical too much rigid gesture in arms ,legs ,head and torso ,like the figures lack dynamism .I say it base in their price as not cheap either, so quality and price should be blend .EXF may do good research in uniforms ,weapons and else but the artist do figures too rigid in my view .
Also JAPANESE EXF are not at all 54 mm as far photos I seen with other 54 mm scale next to them unless photos were in odd angles .I seen photos by others collectors and these guys are with out base 60 mm in standing pose ,slight bending or running body are 54/56 mm easy .Those showing photos did it to proof they were not 54 mm and posted in FB blogs no long ago .Yet EXF claim they are 54 mm .
In past ,they keep calling the German and US early set as 60mm ,when they are close to 70 mm =huge .To me not an issue as I can blend with 65/70 figures of many other brands but to many it was a disappointment ,hope it wont be with Japanese to many expecting true 54 mm ,but as far i see ,they wont be 54 mm at all .Still They blend with BMC,LIDO,OLIVER-EX P.H ,JECSAN and few others Japanese made in the 60+mm range ..
In general I will like to know what type measure they use as definitely not what it seems and is after made .

The archer poses are the best so far i seen in plastic with stack/wood pose ,the wood spike looks realistic and correct ,not like the way too small made by ACCURATE that won’t stop any horse ,unless rider is mounted in a pony .I also like the hat and clothing depicted in archers .
    my thoughts

  4. Henry P. says:

    that archer looks excellent!!

  5. BRIAN says:

Should have an Archer figure giving the “Agincourt Salute”.God for Harry,England and Saint George!!.

  6. Steve Zobel says:

The drum is wrong. This drum has the initials GR, for the king of England.
The French Imperial Guards drums had the flaming grenade in a repeated pattern around the drum.

  7. Timothy Viezer says:

Thank you Steve. That’s what I thought.

  8. Alan James Black says:

Hi Wayne I’m glad you recovered, and your family, from COVID.

That also applies to all here.
Our hobby has lost too many this year..
Seems we are a ‘dying’ race..

Still waiting on Conte Romans..won’t be Santa now..sob!!

    Stay safe
    Alan

  9. Ed Meyers says:

The right hand drum stick grip is incorrect like all previous ExForce drummers.
