My goodness these indians bring back memories. If I’m correct they are about 30mm scale and formed part of the cereal promotions in the 50’s.in the U.K.
There were indian children and several cowboys including the seated ‘stage guard’s cradling a rifle across his knee.
All, of course, in vibrant colours..
What a lot of cereal was consumed to get these beauties.
Thanks
Alan
I won a collection of Jecsan ACW figures from Peter Evans off EBAY and there is three artillery crew figures in the set. I am just wondering if there was more than three to a set of them. There is one in blue plastic and one in green plastic also one in yellow plastic.
James base in my memory so far ..
I have not recollection of Jecsan ACW artillery crew poses Jecsan
Jecsan ACW set is made of 21 poses (5 mounted and 16 foot ) none is artillerymen. They sold the cannon with the officer foot pose ,bugler and one infantrymen with rifle as artillery set .
Jecasan often mix US cavalry poses with ACW set poses in their window box sets
All Jecsan were made partially painted. When PUCHOL(Industrias Puchol) bought Jecsan molds they were run unpainted some times using former Jecsan packing .These are post 1975 and PUCHOL mold-cast then in many colors ,included fiesta bright odd colors and the colors you indicate as well .These are fairly common off Europe in bags but not as full set per bags ..
The Jecsan US cavalry set not ACW set has one mounted(seated carriage driver) carriage/caisson pose for the limber set made only .But not artillery crew, set has 12 poses .
Pech Hermanos ACW-14(Union and confederate) poses -not artillery crew
Pech Hermanos US cavalry 18 poses -not artillery crew
Reamsa ACW 12 poses 4 mounted and 8 foot ,used as union and confederate in colors blue, grey and green in late not painted production still under REAMSA-Gomarsa -No artillery crew pose.
Reamsa US cavalry 12 poses -not artillery crew
Comansi 3 sets of US cavalry(amount poses varied per set ) ,not artillery crew pose in any of these sets .
Gama company 1950s -US cavalry 12 poses, not artillery crew .
Jecsan US american war of independence or AIW-ARW sets
16 poses each army ,three armies(french ,Americans and British) ,each pose with detachable tricorns hats .Very nice figures by the way
One era cannon very well done in scale with figures .
These 3 sets were limited made by Jecsan as popularity of this war era and time company release was not good .
Run under Puchol company(who acquire the Jecsan molds in 1970s ) in many colors .Some poses were used as artillery men with muskets and swords, not quite artillery crews .
Puchol did limited run few small poses set of unconfirmed “ex -jecsan” never produced under Jecsan sets but as Puchol acquired Pech Hermanos and other companies molds as well it often debated .There 4 books written about all spaniards main plastic toy soldiers/figures makers ,not mention is made about such ACW artillery jecsan poses unless i skip it and never seen it .Sorry ..
Only specific Artillery set poses by main Spaniard makers as far i recall are
Reamsa Agustina Aragon set(4 poses) included one artillery men with ball pose,Agustina with fire starter stick and small cannon .
And all PH(Pech Hermanos ) brand WW2- 7 different armies 4 poses each set Artillery crew with the 7 nice are different artillery pieces cannons .
sets were German Reg,DAK,british 8th,Australian,japanese,american and russian artillery set with all 7 different cannons ,6 mortars and 6 MG plus fences.
Oliver bough PH molds in 60s and run till 80s when sold then to Puchol
Of these Puchol lease only the of these 2 molds sets of Russian and Americans crews to BUM(Barcelona Universal Moldes) who recast then in 90s and still around .BUM recast then splitting the mortar ,cannon and MG pieces with same poses figures in different packing ..
Could you please provide photo of such poses sets ?I’m interested seen then ..
Best regards
Hello Erwin sorry I am unable to provide photo of them as my camera is out of order at the moment. The figures come on square bases one is in blue 65mm with ramrod the other is in yellow 65mm. But seems to be on another smaller base molded in to square base he is carrying a cannon ball also the other one is in green he is crouching down. He reminds me of the Britains swoppet artillery figure with sword in his right hand pointing back wards and he is pointing with his left arm they all have kepis on if this is any help. Was wondering with the square bases if they are by Oliver of Spain as they do figures on square bases.
Hi James
It may be an Oliver .
Oliver was not a toy soldier maker or army related figure maker, they only original army figures are 11 poses of Roman made x nativity sets .Now Oliver did recast all same Pech Hermanos sets as they bought all PH production in 1966-67 approx ,then sold their molds to Industria Puchol in late 80s who also had adquire Jecsan molds as i stated before .
And you may be correct in one thing .Yes under Oliver all former PH sets figures were recast with all new redone rectangular or straight cut corners bases versus the former PH bases .This was done by Oliver in purpose to adjust their figures with same scale and as former PH bases made some time figures east to tip because of the not balanced pose of figure .
Another change made by Oliver is they cast in plastic the banner poles in the poses figures with banner while former PH had then made of metal wire pole and paper banner .You can see the plastic pole molded banner in WW2 japanese and FFL recast Oliver sets on banner carrier poses.
The first Oliver reworked new bases were made by adding a larger base to former oval PH base (Almost as you described above or same) .
Then soon after ,they complete redone bases in to one flat rectangular or corner shaped base and removed the old base vestige for good in late 70s
Poses in Oliver are exact same as former PH .
Now i need check the PH production catalogs I have x artillery men as PH did quite 8 (as far i know and own ) set of specific artillery men poses x cannon,7 modern ww2 and one napoleonic .
Ironicle o have not ACW PH figure but just few US cavalry
may take me few days ..
sorry
best
Hi James
Actually it took me few minutes and looks you were correct as possible Oliver -former PH set based off .
I think i found then and i have then in former PH photo poses with original oval type bases
They were made as part of 7v cavalry set add on artillery set .
There 4 poses with the cannon .i will supply photo soon .Full set has 4 poses plus firing plastic cannon
Typical PH production to always try add artillery set as they did to napoleonics and all WW2 sets.Yours may be under Oliver/Puchol late 80s recast production because of base .
the poses i found are ..
1-officer with sword up in right hand raised, left arm sligh lifted below waist level as coming down after giving fire command .But officer has a army hat ,not kepi
2-Kneeling pose (the one spark the ball or correct cannon fire level )with left arm and hand-open extended straight forward
3-Ramrod with ramrod at waist level and kepi ,very alike as Marx 54/56 mm ACW Union ramrod pose but with not back pack
4-Cannonball carrier pose carrying ball towards his right side with two hands .Looks alike Marx Marx Union 60 mm currier pose.
Let me know …
Hello Erwin figures 2/3/4 definitely sound like the right ones. Look forward to seeing photo of them. Thank you so much for your info James.
