Odds and Ends
I had hope to do an indoor flea market on Saturday, but they cancelled. With my commitment to help on giving Percy his insulin shots, it has restricted my flea markets. My area has gone green and we have been able to eat inside at three restaurants. We are hoping there is no backtracking.
We plan on having a quiet fourth and wish all of you the same.
This “girl” set is an embarrassment. What a waste of time and talent. Why don’t these companies get more feedback before they produce things like this? Also, it makes the producers seem infantile in their depiction.
Geez…
I think there is a definite shortage of female figures in the hobby, I applaud Jeff Imhelt’s attempt to rectify the problem though if he was going to do female troops in combat poses I wish he’d done them in modern gear with Kevlars as more realistic and correct. At the same time, being he did them in older gear (Steel pots with what looks like M-14 rifles) the set would have been more useful had they been in actual historic poses such as nurses or support. An occasional action pose might have been okay as there were probably times when females (WACs back then) might have had to use personal weapons. As it is we have some really nice oddities with the collection.
I probably will buy at least one set to support him and use the figures where I can.
Now PP? I could hear my wife if I opened a package with these gals. My own take, if you wanted to truly do Marines’ or even GIs girlfriends in states of undress or whatever, ditch the weapons and the steel pots. I think we could use a set of Vietnamese civilians, both male and/or female. Actually, I wish we had more civilians from ALL eras to dress our battle scenes and whatever, but I see no real use for these other than a prurient curiosity. JMO
To continue the Vietnam range, why not Green Berets? Girlfriends? Big market for this set?
GOOD IDEA. He’s sold one set.
Are the girlfriends “uniforms” historically accurate?
Love their product but this is a stupid idea. Who would buy those?

If those are Vietnam War Marine “Girlfriends” they’re from Oceanside California not Chu Lai eh LOL.
