Stad’s May Figure Finds Junk Box Time

Stad’s May Figure Finds Junk Box Time, I was able to get out to a source and get some items for resale and the collection. As I have mention so many times before I love junk boxes. First, to see if I can recoup my money and make a profits. Second, what treasure I can find for myself and my friends. this was a fun junk box. Also I got an odd color on the Remco WWI Enemy.

Stad’s May Figure Finds Mystery Figure

Stad's May Figure Finds Lido
This figure popped up in the junk box. It is a Hong Kong copy of the Lido German soldier with a hand grenade. Why it is a mystery figure for me, it is in white. In all the years I have only seen the figure in gray and green. Where did this figure show up?

Stad's May Figure Finds Police
The first interesting figure I found is this police officer writing a ticket. I can not make out the name on the bottom. It was made in China. I think you could repaint the figure to make him military and use him in various ways.
Stad's find
On the left is an Andygard Union figure. The previous owner painted it black. black paint can be a problem to get off. The other figure is a hunter. Which I can adapt to be used in other periods of history
Stad's May Figure Finds Indian
Indian with raise spear. As it is made in China I figure we covered him some on my blog.
Stad's May Figure Finds Japanese
Normally I would pass on adding a copy to the Airfix Japanese standing firing the rifle. Looking at the figure, I saw that company that copied it. made it into a swoppet type. I am sure Erwin will tell us who.
Explorer
This explorer I thought it might be from the Blue Box Sunny Days playset we covered. I looked at the photos and could not see it. The color plastic is the same.

Color Variation

Remco WWI
The final item to show in this post is a color variation of the Remco WWI enemy. These are in a lighter blue than what has been seen before. They are originals as they were acquired with the British which are in a lighter shade of red as normal.
Sprecher's photo
Here is Ken Sprecher’s photo of Remco figures. (We thank Kent for allowing using it show the known color

Paul, i find paint can be removed by soaking the figure in either TSP (tri sodium phosphate) or even laundry detergent like Tide for a few hours. (pine sol sometimes works as well.)

when the paint has softened, use a toothpick and toothbrush to remove it. i have never had any problems with plastic damage, but of course test it first.

Most spray on paint removers work safely on soft plastic. I’ve used them lots. Another thing that works even better is carburetor or engine choke cleaner, like Gum Out. It works better than most actual paint strippers I’ve used. Either of these will destroy hard plastic, though. Always test before committing.

That figure does look altered, though. I think that black may be burns. Somebody might have been messing with doing conversions with a hot knife….or maybe a blow torch. Not a neat job.

The policeman writing a ticket looks very familiar. In Hitchcock’s Psycho, Janet Leigh, sleeping in her car, is awoken by a traffic cop. Check out the scene here:

Freeze it at 1.56 and tell me that isn’t a dead ringer !

I have an alike pose police figure w rest poses as a set .it is mark Boley in mine.Later crudes copies not painted had been made.
Japanese are 6 poses base in in Airfix made and or sold under Welo and Star Toys HK they are swivel or swap torso so u can create new poses.A nice idea I think.
Figure above is missing the belt holster .
Here you can see some poses in window case pack

They also did British commandos,US and Germans.Germans are the best as their helmets and head can be swapped. Helmets are very well done
I post then here before all full set poses
They often come w armored car and vehicles plus trenches in window cases and figures attached to cardboard using plastic connectors.

I had that color Remco WWI Germans with the set I received for Christmas 1965. Also, it looks like the Andy Gard Union figure has been slightly modified to me. When you got him was he completely black? I wondered if he might have been melted into that position. Just a thought.

  5. Lester Lessa says:

If You use a product called crodcutter, you may be able to get the black paint paint off.

Indian with spear made in USSR. Solid cast copie of Cofalu 60mm swoppet figure.

Still in production, but with different base.

  7. Greg Liska says:

That copy Lido German has on really BAD helmet, which is rather odd because the rest of him has detail pretty close to the originals. He’d be a fun fixer project.

  8. Wayne W says:

Another thing I remember about that Remco set was my loader figure for the Allies (red) had a pickelhaube helmet. It bummed me out at the time I remember. Now I wish I still had him as I don’t know how rare that was.

    • ERWIN SELL says:

.The British( red) artillery man has same British helmet as others, unless you got a German in reverse color(Red) or you got only the one pose in reverse!?
The Germans and British have same exact poses but uniform is simple correct depicted made x each army
That will be interesting as i never see then but only in the two main colors .I like always to know and see these rarity.Any body else seen it as Wayne !!?

I think (I could be wrong )The hunter belong to Chinese original made set sold in late 90s early 2000s with mammals and safari vehicles ,there three more poses.I need check with others i have if find then easy.
I still have two blister pack not open .
The Indian is a copy of Cofalu pose that been mix used with others in a set sold from Russia later in 90s i think ..But Russia version is much better detailed, this looks more crude.
