I like the Mexicans and two of the four Texans a lot. I think two of the Texan poses look too relaxed, I would expect their actions to be a little more frenetic considering the circumstances for which they were designed. I like the way the Texans are dressed and I like the plug in hands idea, any idea that allows easily for more poses is a good idea. Compare the Mexicans to the Texans in the hand to hand poses, the Mexicans look to be getting down to business, the Texans are stiff and seemingly in relaxed poses.

I’m getting ready mentally for OTSN (my excitement is building). I’m planning on arriving early Friday morning, and look forward to acquiring TSSD’s new Alamo figures, as well as whatever new offerings are from Barzso, short of the traditional playset he’s apparently not releasing this year. I’m ready for plenty of room action all day Friday through Friday evening. Saturday morning I expect to enjoy the hotel’s excellent breakfast buffet, and then hit the rooms again. At the Michigan Show last weekend, I met at least one collector who said he was trying hard to conserve his money so he had enough to have fun at OTSN.

I basically like the several poses TSSD has released photos of. They all seem to fit the title of the set — “Alamo Hand To Hand”. I especially think the Texican standing on the wall shooting his pistol downward is a welcome addition.

Incidently, Rick Eber made his first appearance at Joseph Saine’s Michigan Show. I didn’t get a chance to ask him how he felt he did in terms of sales — whether business was sufficient to inspire him to come back next year.

Don’t forget to stop by my room and buy all my stuff. I’ll have beer. I have a nice teal Custer and some ranch kids for you, plus a host of 60mm cav, Indians and pioneers. Even have an intact excellent Rin Tin Tin set.

It’s too hard to tell from these pictures. What scale are these figures? Are they Marx or Conte compatible. I’ll reserve judgement until I hold them in my hand.

    • Ed Borris says:

I believe they will Conte compatible, that’s his usual size.

I would agree with you based on the pictures. According to Denver on the Hobby bunker site, the Alamo defenders will be in a gray like the TSSD Confederates and Mexican in a light blue. Denver had said he had talked to Nick of TSSD and found out the colors that Nick will be doing for the new figures.

Interesting to note that there are now more figures of Alamo defenders available than the actual number of Texans who were fighting there!
