Engineer Basevitch Battle of Berlin Flagbearer
We start off our view of the Engineer Basevitch set with the flagbearer. Igor Basvitch stated the following on Facebook about this pose ” The standard-bearer is always a cult figure. In the USSR, it is a symbol of victory over fascism, a banner hoisted over the Reichstag. They always go into battle with the banner, take the oath, and say goodbye to their fallen comrades…” That is very interesting as here in the west, the flagbearer is not an important figure.
Second Pose
The second pose from the set is a Russian standing with a submachine gun at the waist.
Standing firing submachinegun
Standing firi9ng submachine gun is the third pose.
fourth pose
Another figure standing firing submachine gun. This time it is a tanker firing a Schmeiser.
Officer firing pistol
The fifth pose is an officer firing pistol. His left arm is in a sling.
Kneeling firing
The Final pose for this article is a Russian soldier with an automatic rifle. We will be showing the remaining six poses in our nest article.

Sketch of the flagbearer
One of the nice things that Igor has done on his Facebook page is to show some of the drawings and the master molds. Here is the sketch for the flag bearer.
Master pose front
In this photo, we see the master pose of the flag bearer front look
Back view of the flag bearer
Here is the back of the flag bearer figure. We have no date when these figures will be available.

Detlef’s Conversion Additions

Conversion figures
Our very good friend Detlef Heerbrand got these nice conversions of Timpo Indians. I am waiting for further details about them and how it was done. As you know the Timpo Indians are all bare-chested figures.

That last pose is a Soviet Naval Infantryman firing the semi-automatic Tokarev SVT-40. I’m not sure what on and under the muzzle of the weapon. Looks like flash to me.
They’re pretty nice figures, but they’ve taken the MPC approach to the USSR, showing the wide range of Soviet forces by using all sorts of head gear, 2 of which are officer hats. More Pilotkas, I say. By far, the most commonly worn.

    • Brian JOHNSON says:

Think it was meant to be a bayonet that didn’t mould right?

      • ERWIN SELL says:

Well i guessing an over mold excess but could be the smoke out backwards as he advance!?It is odd any how but could be cut off easy i guess..
The bases these figures have are very cumbersome in my like ,the poses are resemble of multipurpose 10 poses set made by Oritet brand in 90s .
The so repeated pose with captured MP40 or officer with Luger pistol instead soviet/Russian weapons too wasted in my opinion and preference
The banner i will rather preferred they had the iconic pose of soldier hanging a waved banner in top roof at Reichstag ruins ,that cost several men by the way but is much more patriotic and heroic in my like .
But maybe as the banner over Reighstag has a very not accurate history was not used ,still is iconic and nice representation of victory over Berlin .

The maker may have choose a standard carrying banner as generic for other purpose of course .Yet a banner with that pole would be very odd in battlefield ,that is a HQ staff or march parade banner pole .
Overall sculpting is very well done in all figures.
        My thoughts
        Best

Please let us know where and when this set will be for sale! I definitely will pick up a couple sets. Great looking set!

  3. Mark T. says:

Those are Timpo canoe paddler torsos. They had a paddle molded into their hands originally. I bet Detlef cut off the paddles and drilled out holes in the hands to hold weapons.
