April Odds Ends One London Rag Tag
Ebay Listing
Mike Schredl sent me an Ebay Listing and wondered if I knew them. The dealer listed three hard plastic background pieces: a World War Two destroyed building, abandoned western fort and an abandoned castle. I did as I had the western fort. It was made by Toway and sold in a big plastic bag.
I had gotten it from a person in the UK named John Hardwood John was an eccentric person. He had my grail piece the Speedwell armored car on fire. Twenty years plus ago he was the only person that had one. (I now have two.) He used to taunt me about it. At one of the Plastic Warrior shows, he said that he was going to buried with it. without missing a beat, I replied I had gravediggers on call. He quickly skirted away. He was not buried with it. that is a story for another time.
First is not by Esteroplast OR part of comic series characters as far i know ,neither base represent it .Steroplast viking foot poses are 9 ,none is that ,the pose resemble a lot one of Jecsan poses .I will have to look it to it ,the figure looks interesting to me
Second viking were done by Baratijas La Fabrica or La Fabrica(this was the first name used by COMNASI used in first 3 years before register name as COMMASI).Set consist of 6 super action poses and first were painted ,later unpainted, the figures even so fairly common from Sain still usually sale more priced if condition in good to great .I have repeated poses viking as these ,the figures are in same way style as LIDO -semi flat and design detail are quite well done with even runic type engraving design in banner ,shields and helmets .Made soft plastic and good match with Jecsan viking
I had converted most my repeated poses.
Last viking is last 80s recast made of Jecsan mold under PUCHOL company who acquire most Jecsan molds ,these are he fiesta colors made as party favor toys x pinatas ,usually sold in mix bags with only few poses not full set
Spaniards dealers sale off ebay as they dont like it much ,they sale at todocollecion site and ship mail to any country generally using incoming mail from Spain in any no more 2 pounds .

The background pieces had been originally sold by Timpo only for a short time. Think Toyway had some stock on hand. Would like to see a pic of a bagged item.
Stay save.
The Victorian set by Little Man looks great. I like the action and look of the Robert Downey Jr Sherlock movies and now it looks like they can be recreated in 1/32.
Love the Viking figures Paul, Apart from the Jecsan type Viking which i think i have, I haven’t seen the other Viking figures before. It just shows how many figures have been made over the years and how many are out there. I thought i owed more or less every Medieval and Ancient figure ever made but i still get surprised now and then which is Great.
Like the Little Man Victorian figures, It’s abut time somebody did this era in plastic. How many figures to a set & any idea of the cost or date available ??
Response ,it is indeed Jecsan very early production .Rare in the condition .
The set was released in 1958 right after K Douglas film- .
The original set as well original American independence war by Jecsan rare set of 36 poses(French ,american and british) were made with removable helmet in rubber type material .
The viking molds set were then recast in new mold solid figures with out removable helmet in 1966-68 when spaniards brands transition from old rubber to plastic type material .
Admin your figure if had the helmet with it separated could be value as far as 100.00 easy .
Finding a loose helmet to put with these figures today is like a lottery ,according to most spaniards collectors ,almost no one has any with helmet of older production as the helmet were kept by simple pressure in head and with time fell off easy .

Sample of another Jecsan 1950s early rubber edition not helmet ,same pose was remold with helmet in late 60s in to the set we all know better as recast in 90s and still easy find from ATS toy soldiers .
Most or all jecsan set were made of 12 poses each unless being special characters such romans and egyptians made based in film cesar and cleopatra .
No all poses in these sets were recast in 90s .
The robber does not have a club, it’s a thick leather belt with a heavy brass buckle.
This was the preferred method of fighting by yobs and Costa mongers
Yob is slang in the United Kingdom for a loutish, uncultured person. In Australia and New Zealand, the word yobbo is more frequently used, with a similar although slightly less negative meaning.

Thanks for the Update. I have to see if it is still in the collection.

I’ll be looking for a set or two of the Little Man Victorian figures for my Western Towns, assuming they are 1/32 scale.
The Jecsan version of that painted Viking is identical except he has a horned helmet.

Nothing like a good, old fashioned buckle fight!!
Thanks for the correction, it is hard to see the weapon.
Nice Vikings Paul ! Thanks for sharing .
Costa mongers? I’ve heard the term Yobs but not that.
Yob is slang in the United Kingdom for a loutish, uncultured person. In Australia and New Zealand, the word yobbo is more frequently used, with a similar although slightly less negative meaning.
“Apple sellers”; used of all street peddlers and vendors.
costermongers, that is. Yobs are hooligans.
And they’re all Toe rags and Wankers!!LOL.
Roughnecks and scoundrels!
And twits and gits!
Knaves, rapscallions, and reprobates.
But the figures are Bobbydazzlers!!
Ha!! THAT is what he should name the final products!!
Does anyone know how to buy Little Man figures? They are putting out some great looking sets, but I can’t find them anywhere. Thanks for any help!
