March Figure Collection Time Word Press

March Figure Collection Time, we start off March with a look at some items from my collection. We will start our month-long celebration of the ninth anniversary of us using Word Press.

March Figure Collection Time Figures

March Figure Collection Time marlbough
We start are march look into the collection with one of the Marlborough 24th foot figures. I believe that Marlborough made three 24th foot figures and three Zulu Warriors.
March Figure Collection Time Pech
Here we have one of Pech Hermanos cowboys. It is a shame this company closed due to a breakup of the partnership as it would have been interesting what else they could have done.

Marx Figures

Marx Rado
Marx did a great 60mm Confederate advancing with a rifle at the waist. I did not get this pose until I was an adult. I was so glad that Mike Ellis of Marksman got into Rado and had the figure done in various colors. Here we have the pose in yellow and blue. Sadly dealing with Rado is very difficult as they want large quantities. These figures are over 20 years old.
Marx Confederate Loading
Marx moved the production of their Warriors of the World to Tawain. The figures were done in soft plastic. The rifle has to be straightened as it causing the figure to be off-balance.

Fantasy Pieces

game Piece
This figure I figure is from a game. I found him in a junk box. I figure he could a lab assistant or a townsperson.
Archer Space woman
Archer did a spacewoman firing space pistol. Ken Sprecher notes on his site that Archer ‘s version of this figure is unpainted while Hong Kong copied the figure in hard plastic. I will have to check my version of the figure.

March Figure Collection Time Word Press Origins

As I said earlier, this month is the ninth anniversary of my starting to use Word Press. as I said last year, I have been blogging in one form or another for 40 plus years. It started with my printed lists. I had learned from Joe Hehn on added a newsletter. to a marketing piece. Where Joe used it to promote items on his list, I learned from Stan Lee of Marvel Comics’ fame to engaged the readers. My Comment Time talked about the hobby and my experiences.

When the internet came about, I set up a web site. There I continued Comment Time using Microsoft FrontPage. Over the years I have had computers go out on me and I lost FrontPage. Microsoft discontinued the program so I look to a new program and found Word Press. I will talk more about it over the coming days.

Yes, amazing work. In those good ol’ golden days before the internet your lists always highlighted my collectors efforts. Plus order via fax machine and much faster postal service than today. Not to mention the fun I had having the honour meeting Laurie and you either in England or in Germany in person.
Just a short note on Marlborough 24th and Zulu:
think there are three 24th (the one shown up in pic plus standing firing and kneeling reloading, got two shades of red) and four Zulu (crawling, running with shield and kind of war club, stabbing with spear and waving w Martini/Henry rifle in british jacket, got two shades of brown plus the one waving in red, supposed to be local scout or native ally?)

Markus, I talked to Laurie over when we could have met you. I went over to the Nuremberg Toy Fair before we got married. Peter Bergner contacted me and invited me to visit him, which I did. I suggest he go to the PW Show. We were there before the wedding in 1992 and then we were at the first German Plastic Show. Interesting story I don’t think I have ever told. After visiting Peter, I got a bad cold and stayed at the hotel at Frankfurt airport. Laurie called me crying about problems with her wedding dress. I told we deal with it when I got home. We brought in a lawyer. Laurie went to get dress, several other people went with her. I told her if the dress fit to buy it. I had the money, but one of the people got the money out. I figured if she left it there store owner would switch it.

I should add – now that I a bit of leisure time in my retirement (LOL) – that I always looked forward to your mailers and enjoyed the times on the phone we spoke when I ordered from you. This page is one of my daily stops – often more than once.
