Mike Predergast’s New Figures, I received today information from Mike Predergast on the figures he alluded to last year. They are Anglo-Saxons. They will be out this year.
Mike Predergast’s New Figures Information

The set will include 8 figures. A Saxon Noble, Huscarl, and the rest are of raised militia(fyrd) two with axes and four with spears. Right now 7 figures are finished.

Final Thoughts

I like the poses and figures detail. The Fyrd were last used in mass at 1066 King Harold’s campaign against viking from Norway and Normans lead by William .They could be used extensiveness for this period of intense several important battles or before .Likewise the have a generic use as Saxon,Russian -Slavs or even Normans .
They have a very generic use overall .Well done!!!
With all respect …
Regarding specifically Fyrd. I have doubts about the kite shields representation or use by Fyrd or angle Saxon .It was introduced in England by Normans first and mainly as cavalry as is cumbersome for infantry was developed as smaller version for infantry .The classic representation of foot soldier with kite shields come Bayeux Tapestry that erroneous have all sides armies dress as Normans in many scenes in foot and mounted .The tapestry was commissioned much later and used artist that never saw action neither follow any historical info other than imagination and few words pass by few who participated.
Since it most toy maker represent it in every Norman soldier on foot and else and mix Saxon and viking with it as well .
As far i know in Harold’s army only the housecarls were in part made of danish-former viking Normans and use two hand large axes .They were with oval or round shields and long axes in tapestry .
Again i price/like the figures and efforts of making these figures, definitely in my want list .
One question !
What range scale will they match- blend better ?
Replicant,ACTA or Dulcop,CONTE ,REAMSA Publis more taller ??
my thoughts.

Though not as common in use as the Normans, the Kite shield was used by the Saxons by the 11th Century. The round shield still was the most common shield used at this time by the Saxons though. The scale is bigger than the Conte Medieval figures. They are closer in scale to the Russian made medieval figures. I will have more pictures in the coming weeks. Thanks again Paul.
The last one was just finished and has not been cast yet. Planning to do a short run of 50 sets. I will try to continue the sets if there is a demand.I am trying to have the sets available for the Midwest Toy Soldier Show.
These are wonderful figures and I very much want to pick up a set or two. Will any be available outside of the Midwest show? Can I reserve a set?
Fritz. I will pass your email to Mike to contact you on his figures.
Thanks!
