Since the latest issue of Plastic Warrior has mentioned the future plans of Tiger Hobbies I can let you in what I was told by Gary Ford of Tiger Hobbies in May at the Plastic Warrior Show. Tiger Hobbies which does a diecast line of airplanes started to import in 2012 the Supreme figure line. This year Tiger Hobbies got Supreme to do a series of 54mm figures of Napoleonic British and French. Each set has four mounted and eight foot . Gary is hoping to add more Napoleonic sets and do WWI in the future. Gary did not have the figures at the time so you should see them in the near future. When we hear more we will pass it along.
Speaking of Plastic Warrior, issue 151 is out with lots of great information. This issue has an article on the Soldiers of the World by Dan Humar giving more information about this set of figures, which was done for cereal. (Do not confuse this with 12 inch action figures that was done. Dan has found out that the molds still exists and has been sold to a company in South Africa! The issue has an article on 40mm Elastolin and much more.
One more item from Plastic Warrior, George Musgrave, who sculpted for Britains and Gem Models has died. He was 92.
My spam blocker has blocked over 56,000 pieces of spam. It is amazing what garbage people try to push in their emails.
I have not gotten a Marx dead horse in months and now I have second. This time the horse is in cream and reins are perfect.
You wonder some times where is the rest of a playset when you buy from someone. I bought from a dealer the Marx Captain Gallant Cuffy, that was the only figure he had from the playset. Another load of figures I got one Marx Arab and a damage Foreign Legion standing firing. I am not complaining it is just makes you wonder.
On our trip last month to UK, we went up to the Birmingham Toy Show. Our very good friend Peter Evans helped us get the tickets for the train at very reasonable rate. If you book in advance, you can save money. The trip was pleasant and we got at the show shortly after it opened. I was disappointed in the show as I planned it to buy some smalls of character items and there was none to be had. I did find a number of dealers with plastic figures that had not been at the Plastic Warrior Show and bought a nice selection of items including Britains Floral Garden items. We ran into David Hoffman (I have his last name as Harding in the Plastic Warrior Show report, please contact me David so I can place the correct name.) from Australia. He had gotten at the show four of Marx 60mm English Lifeguards Warriors of the World style. David only paid a pound each ($1.65) I looked at them and verified that they were the Marx English Lifeguards Warrior of the World style and they would sell in the states for at least $25.00 each. I was glad for David as it was a cap to great weekend for him. We left the show after another round checking the stands and headed back to London.
So ah what’s the differance between Napoleonic British and English?
Oh boy I goofed, I meant to say British and French. I looked at the article for spelling mistake and grammar missed it. Thanks for the heads up.
I picked up some unusual items at the flea market this Sunday. I bought a jar (yes, a jar) full of REMCO Mighty Matillda sailors in light blue. About 50. Another jar of GIANT cowboys and Indians, 4 Babes in Toyland figures with the MARX stamp under the base, a dozen HERALD Cowboys and Indians, a Palimino Stuarts rearing horse and a bag of about 15 Marx fish.
I think that 3 of the fish are repos or cereal prizes, because of the different texture of the plastic and the “hong kong” marking under the bases.
But, I am pretty sure that the other 12 are originals. The “names” are crisp and clear and the plastic is old plastic, with the familiar Marx cream and blue being two distinct colors.
Paul so my question is “Is there any way to tell the original fish from the repos? Were the repos cast in a different translucent plastic, like the 3 fish that have hong kong under the base? I’m not a big colector of the Marx animal lines so I really don’t know much about these. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks Paul.

Checking Kent Sprecher’s site the fish were done for Nabisco. They were done in translucent blue and red. Kent noted that they were copies of Marx fish. Checking another site, Nabisco also used the MPC sea creatures under the title Sea Monsters.

Oh!! And all the figures came from the same lot, which would lead me to believe that they were originals. The woman who sold me everthing, told me that it came from her brother in laws toys from when he was a kid. The Mighty Matilda figures must be mid to late 60’s or early seventies. Same for the Heralds, GIANT and Babes in Toyland figures.
Paul Gruendler at the Kong Kong Blooey Yahoo group recently posted a link to a MOC bagged set of the Hong Kong copies of the Marx fish. It looked like it was 1960s era. These copies are marked Hong Kong and factory painted. The cereal premium copies are different and it was Rick Koch who pointed out to me the slight differences in the bases from the original Marx made fish. The Marx PL list shows two fish molds. Evidently the Rainbow Trout was only in one of the molds leading it to be scarcer. About6-8 years ago a big lot of Marx fish was unearthed at the WV dump.

It is amazing what turns up. I have a bag of Hong Kong or China copies of the Marx cavemen coming up for EBay. Then last year I found that bag of Marx bird reissues that someone packaged from Mexico. There is always some new coming up to keep this hobby interesting.
Just looked for Marx fish on ebay and saw Greg Hahn former owner of Stone Castle Hobbies in Louisville selling Mexican recast Marx sharks in white and another vender with recasts in red and yellow.

I believe I got the fish in various colors when I did my border runs to Mexican years ago. I will have to ask bill to either do a picture or describe them so we can tell whether they are originals or what.
I sent photos to Paul to see what he thought and he believes that they are original Marx pieces. Perhaps he will share the pix and we can see what other think. I swear that the fish marked Hong Kong are made from “old plastic. I don’t know how to describe it, but I know it when I see it.
The second group is not marked Hong Kong and I believe these to be originals also.
But I could be wrong?
Bill
I am having transferring the pictures over to photo library. I will need to send again.
The fish are interesting and hope to have the photos up.
