Sliver Conte Collectibles Romans

Collection Time

Silver and Red are choice colors. A lot of people were calling for them to be in Bronze but when I spoke with Richard regarding this, we both agreed that Bronze is a color better suited for Republic Era Romans. He made the right call here and they look fantastic. The Chintoys sets are nice as well.
This pirate is made by APS Politoys aka Polistil (Italy).
I agree on the colors – Silver and red are great. These look to be first class all the way – but then again, Conte’s figures never failed to disappoint as far as I’m concerned.
Silver and bronze show much more detail. Not sure about red unless flat mate color.
Just my personal opinion.
The Pirate could also be by POPLAR PLAYTHINGS of the UK
They made four pirates in 54mm with flag, swords, whip accessories, etc. along with a small pirate ship
It shouldn’t be too difficult to replace the pirate’s missing hook with a part from an inexpensive MPC pirate “donor”. It could even be made in the form of a removable “sleeve” that could slide on and off the original hand if you want to preserve the original figure as is.
I’m also glad to see HIGH quality new production figures. I, personally, would rather have one really good set than ten sets of dollar store junk. Although I don’t collect the themes represented by these figures, I am still glad to see activity in the hobby. I wish someone would do new, unique Wild West poses like Dan’s Austin Miniatures. It would also be great to see a set of really well done Town Folks with various merchants, craftsmen, women and children not shooting or falling down shot!
Personally I prefer silver as then they will be a good match for my Ex.Force.
But honestly I’m just looking forward to collecting them sometime in 2020.
Something to really look forward to.
As a post script silver and bronze do show the detail better and these prototypes from Richard look amazing.
Guess though I’m going to settle for an ExForce Christmas.
Boxes are red..isn’t that a good sign?
Enjoy your day.
Cheers
Alan
The red Richard used for his Spartans turned out much better than I expected it to. I bought complete sets in both silver and gold, but saw some figures in red and ended up getting even more of them than I got of the other two colors they looked so great. If he does them in red, I am hoping it is a deeper, richer red than some of the fire engine hues we see in some figures. I know I said I was backing out of Ancients on another thread – but I do have a pretty good Roman line that might need reinforcing.
“Just when I think I’m out – they PULL me back in!”
Does anyone know what Chintoys will making next have just bought the Swiss and landsknechts.
Chintoys keep what they are going to do close to vest.
Is there anyway to contact Chintoys directly? Thanks!
