Expeditionary Force Celtic Armed Figures

Greetings from Singapore

Very pleased to inform you of the release of a new set in the “60mm Wars of the Roman Empire – Celtic Barbarians” range.

60 CTB 05           Celtic Armed Civilians (women, children, etc.)
All models are supplied unpainted. The sets are available for shipment within this week.
Celtic defense
The set contains 9 model soldiers comprising of 1 wounded warrior, 2 women, 2 children, 2 elderly men, and 2 freed slaves. Extra heads and arms options are provided to give permutation of at least 20 different assembled postures.  I hope that you will find something of interest in these models. These are all newly sculpted figures.
The above shows the various combination for the woman and child models. The woman’s base is detachable for it to be placed on a chariot. A young woman or a matured woman can be assembled with a fur-lined cape option provided. The child is a teenager with the option of being armed with a spear or a sword. Women and children of warrior clans are often trained in the use of weapons and in an emergency, they would be relied upon to defend themselves. Accordingly, we have decided on modeling these as being in a defensive posture rather than in an assault.
Male defenders
We have designed the elderly as being wearing a robe and holding a walking staff. Many of these could be retired warriors and thus could be expected to be able to wield a sword. One of the elderly men heads wears a wreath of leaves allowing it to be portrayed as a priest. Celtic warriors are not inclined to use the bow as a weapon of war. We take the opportunity to arm the freed slave as an archer. There is also an option for him to be armed with an ax or a club.

Next Release

Greek artillery
The next set in the production queue is the Greek Artillery (60 GRK 22) set to be released in December 2019. The set contains the lithobolos stone-thrower plus crew. This set is meant to supplement our Greek & Macedonian sets as the Persians already have artillery while the Greeks have none as yet.
Looking forward to your kind support.
Cheers,

Scott

    All intersting set.
Figures are well fine generally as typical of EF
Boys and elderl are not common or rarely made in toy soldiers plastic as warriors as far I recall.
    This set is very peculiar.
In the Greek crews I don’t like they depicted then w swords hanging.
Generally artillery crews barely use any weapon w managing the pieces as cumbersome and no need x it .
    Same x armour.
Few roman and ancient painting wall engraving slideshow then with out weapons as well.
So their depiction in my view is incorrect .
    Best …

Another great pair of sets will getting four of each when they come out. I was expecting the new Napoleonic French cavalry from Steve Weston. But was told by him the shipment was refused entry in the UK and was sent back to China. I hope they can sort it out as the other sets to come out maybe refused as well. I cant figure out why this was stopped when he has received all the other shipments from EXPO FORCE over the years.

Hello Brian I don’t no why it was refused entry Steve was not even told what had happened. The only way he found out was by checking the tracking on the shipment.

I am very glad to see new figures being produced on a regular basis. My personal wish is for a nice set of Wild West Town Civilians – storekeepers, bankers, lawyers, shoppers, people with children and dogs, kids playing, wagon passengers, etc.. Preiser made two nice 1/32 sets of Victorian era civilians and 1890s types, but can always use more.

Also, the set of 14 old Marx Ranch Kids is cool and really add a lot of life to my various dioramas. I had a complete set of originals in cream that I sold for $2000 on the coattails of the Playset Magazine article in 4/2006. I still have several sets of recasts in multicolors that I honestly enjoy a lot more than the old cream originals. The reds, blues, yellows, greens, oranges, purples, etc. are very appealing. They are 60mm and I wish someone would do a similar 54mm set.
