Hi Stad! So my wife and I are here in Chicago and we’re having a great time, it is another awesome show. Daniel/Austin Miniatures debuted his new Japanese figures and they are very well done. Also he debuted his new set of U.S. Marines and I really like these guys.
These new figures are made of some type of resin material which seems be be pretty durable. Daniel demonstrated by dropping one on the carpeted floor with no breakage. Also I really like that he had them produced right here in the U.S.
He is selling the figures here at the show for $70.00 for a full set/all poses, and $35.00 for a half set. That might seem a little expensive, but if you consider the quality of the sculpting, the attention to detail and the historical accuracy, and the animation of the poses, myself I think they are pretty fairly priced.
Stad I have some photos of these figures but I don’t know how to send them to you?
I got the photos and will put them Later today. How many figures/pose are in a set for $70.00
I believe the Marines set is $70 and includes 16 figures in 16 poses. The Japanese are a set of 7 and I think they are $35 or $40. I am certainly glad to have them but I do wish that at least the Japanese had been done in plastic so that I could seriously army build them.
Hi Paul. I will doing a follow up article these weekend too about the Barzso Playset and LOD. I am glad that Ken decide to keep Barzso figures available and also plans to expand on the figure ranges.
We can’t wait to hear more.
Gee, kind of pumped and disappointed at the same time. You definitely won’t be able to build an army with them at these prices. Well, I won’t. On the bright side – I’m running out of storage space anyway.
Wayne,
I felt the exact same way. At first, I was really disappointed because I had visions of being able to buy 6 or 8 bagged figure sets of 12 to 14 figures each and accumulating a substantial force (like I did with the TSSD Japanese infantry) but that won’t happen unless they crowd fund plastic production of them. That said, these figures are really cool and still worth the pick up for those who can manage the additional cost. I wanted the playset but it was unfortunately beyond what I was able to swing (have to have money for the other vendors as I buy from many tables). I calculated the cost of the set compared to the total money I was bringing to the show and it would have been near 70% of my show funds. I am picking up the figures though.
