It has been reported on various web sites and forums that Richard Walker has left Britains. Richard in a statement stated he had some family opportunities come up and felt it was time to move on. The new General Manager and Creative Director is Ken Osen, who has been heir master sculptor since 2006.

Plastic collectors won’t miss him one little bit
That’s for sure that’s for dang sure(Battleground)
It would be nice if Britain’s would do for their Detail Line of Napoleonic foot and cavalry what it has done for it’s U.S. cavalry, Indians, and Knights — a re-release with a super improvement of the paint job and an improved rounded base for the foot figures.
And by the way, who has the Greek and Trojan Herald molds? Even though I’ve acquired a bunch of them in the $5.00/figure range, I wouldn’t mind seeing a new improved re-release of that line either. That amazing cover and centerspread on Playset Magazine a couple of years back with a massive display of Herald Greeks and Trojans got me hooked. Are the molds still the property or under the control of Britains?
And while I’m on the subject, does anyone know if Conte is still in the toy soldier business? I know he left off plastic figure production 5 – 6 years ago, and his own website hasn’t been updated for in excess of 3 months. His “coming soon” French Foreign Legion figures have been “coming soon” for about 3 years, and his “coming soon” revamped Collector’s Club has also been “coming soon” for about 3 years. His much ballyhoo’d “coming soon” Wyatt Earp western range similarly seems to have fallen into a deep dark hole from which nothing ever actually emerges.
I guess I shouldn’t complain. After all, he did actually release 25 – 30 nice plastic figure playsets. But wasn’t the last one about 10 years ago? Does anyone really know if Mr. Conte is still in the toy soldier business in any way, shape, or form these days? Is he just taking a hiatus, or has he just totally lost interest?
His last plastic release was the Spartans, that was quite a while ago, I think we can forget about the Persians. I think we can write him off as a significant maufacturer, if we see any new stuff it would be a surprise.
Don
The last metal sets done by Conte Collectibles were Romans in February of this year.
Conte is still very much in business. I chatted with him via. emails not too long ago. He was booked to participate in our show last year, but Hurricane Sandy put a damper on things.
A couple of year’s ago I was asked to give a talk/exhibit about toy soldiers to a couple of local Cub Scout Troops. I reached out to some manufacturers in the hobby, requesting product samples, catalogs or anything I could give to the scouts. Only Richard Conte and Ray Haradin (Old Toy Soldier) came through for me. Conte shipped a huge carton of Plastic ACW sets to give to the Scouts for free…needless to say, his gift was much appreciated.
Richard Walker was a first-rate representative for the company Britains. He was supportive of toy soldier fairs and model soldier societies. A good man.
A P.S. for Paul Stadinger: Grateful if you would send me your e-mail address.

Hi Harold
I will send you my email address later today.
Richard disappointed many people by not putting new plastic figures out, which may have not entirely his fault. He did promote the shows as you said.
