Expeditionary Force September Release Celtics

Dear All,
Greetings from Singapore!
Very pleased to inform you of the release of one new set in the “60mm Wars of the Roman Empire – Celtic Barbarians” range.
60 CTB 04      Warband at the Charge!
All models are supplied unpainted. The set is now available for shipment. The set contains 9 model soldiers comprising of 2 warriors in armor, 2 warriors in tunics, and 5 warriors bare-chested. The heads, arms, and shields of this set are interchangeable with the other models in the range. This set was conceived based on feedback that the models in set 60 CTB 01 Warband did not bring out the raw energy of barbarian fury. We decided to expand the range to spice up matters a bit. Hope that you and your customers will find something of interest in these models. These are all newly sculpted figures.
Celtics
The above models are assembled as spearmen. There are a few Celtic shield designs that we have not had space to include previously and thus we included them in this set. Likewise, we took the opportunity to do the bird-top helmet and the flowing hairstyle of Vercingetorix. The facial expressions were selected to reflect their savagery in the attack.
Swordsmen
More swords men
The favorite weapon of the Celts is, of course, the sword.

A view from the side showing the models in the set charging to the front. From previous experience, the stability of a model is best achieved with both feet on the base especially if the models have a shield on their arms. I personally prefer models that are more solid and stable.

Finally, due to tooling-space constraints, one of the heads (bandaged) designed for 60 CTB 05 (Armed Civilians) had to be included in this mold. Since the item has been cast and we need to assemble them as part of our quality inspection, we took a snapshot of it and share it here (see middle model above). CTB 05, by the way, is designed to be the last stand by desperate armed women, children (a teenage boy), elderly men (priests), freed slaves, and the odd wounded warrior. It is scheduled to be released on November 2019.

Next Up

French cavalry

The next set in the production queue is the Napoleonic French Cuirassiers to be released in October 2019.

These are really cool and will go well with the other Celt sets Ex Force has released. Normally, I vastly prefer Ex Force’s 1/32 scale figures as the 60mm figures are really large and look a little out of place mixed with smaller figures. For the Celts, though, this is less of a problem as the historical accounts listed them as very tall/big warriors. A charging set is much needed. Does Ex Force still plan to release French Foot Dragoon for the Napoleonic Wars? I had heard they planned to make those but then they ended up releasing other sets in their Wars of Rome and Napoleonic Wars figure lines.

Appreciate that they are on ‘bases’ and not Mini mountains!!

It’s not really one of my eras, but they are super nice and if I decided to expand my Roman/Barbarian collection they would definitely be under consideration.

The last I heard the 1812 range will be followed by a French Imperial Guard range and then French and British for the 1809-1812 period. The Foot Dragoons, prototypes of which were on the website at one time, could be part of one of the future ranges. As I recall they shred bodies with the Foot Grenadiers of the Guard.
