The four largest Spaniards makers were Jecsan,Comansi,PH(Pech Hermanos) and Reamsa with Lafredo,Gama and few others smaller makers that made western sets as well but in less quantities.
Reamsa was the only using an english sculptor for several of their sets(not all) .
Reamsa also was only main spaniard maker that copied some poses from other makers ,such Elastolin and Starlux .But it western production is original and not copies.
Comansi ,Jecsan ,Reamsa and PH did figures in scales range from 50 to 65 mm in general and last sets in 65/70 mm while Comansi and Jecsan cover few 90 mm in smaller sets towards end of 70s to compete with Lafredo large scale .
Western was the main thematic and most popular of all Spaniards makers with Jecsan and COMANSI exceeding even American brands such Marx in amount sets and poses and many sets/poses direct base in TV or movies western genre.
Comansi in 60/75 mm scale in their 3 main different generation series transition style figures set in western along (indians, cowboys, rangers and US cavalry ) did 17 sets
PH did cover western and also did a full set mounted and foot 8 poses mexicans(Charros) never recast under Oliver and BUM who rented owned some of their mold later.
The mexican mold set by PH disappear and original figures are very high demand by Spaniard collectors .I only have 6 poses and cost me years find then .
Unfortunately PH most western mold were not recover by Oliver during purchase and is main reason not much recast by then .Is a shame as PH did true 54 mm sets well in match with traditional old 54 mm .Only the later last set 60 mm mold survived
By brand from 52/54 to 75 mm scale sets coverage so far ..
Base in quick pick in catalogs and books I got from 4 main brands I count as follow by brand and different poses figures in western(Indians ,cowboys, trappers,US cavalry/soldiers ) NOT counting the 4th and 5 generation Comansi sets factory painted , the 90 mm scale sets and the rare swoppet Jecsan few sets as follow.
PH along had 138 western figures poses total .45,54,65 MM scales
Reamsa – 118 poses 58/60 and 65 mm scales
Jecsan 121 poses 60-75 mm scales
Comansi- 172 poses 45-75 mm scales
Jecsan and Comansi both cover quite interesting charter figures not cover by US makers such chinese cookers, shoe cleaner, bartender and dancers ,trail wagon saler civilians seated poses x carriage and train and others .
In plants and building they did all in true 3D and full plastic
I import the 6 different large Comansi houses in mid late 90s with western two western /cavalry sets recast plus forts and carriages.
These mold are not longer running unfortunately and disassembled- storage years ago.
Comansi 5th generation western series in 24 poses are quite well done factory painted PVC style and much better later 90s 4th generation comic style figures .
the 5 series generation wester set with new forts and carriage are for sale direct from factory or web sites.
Jecsan 9 different plastic houses are smaller but never recast .
Reamsa did not produce plastic building x western but just wood as early Comansi and Jecsan did before changing to plastic .
I believe because in late 50s till early 70s the Spaniards product barrely sold here and barely imported but only few .In the US ;unfortunately most kids never got chance know/play with then .
The person/s who order recast from Reamsa and Jecsan mold owner in late 80s to early 90s fail to bring the many western sets here in unpainted format ,specially the many Jecsan sets that were available by PUCHOL who does not longer own those molds .These would be a great sale .
Reamsa sets they brought a good selection but not all molds were recast imported here .
While many will think they are not 54 mm .I think they match perfect with TM,Marx 60/70 mm ,Aurburn ,Ideal and many other US ,European makers such Cherilea,Charben ,JH,Starlux else that many collectors use in that range /scales.
my thoughts,
best
