Macungie Toy Show 2019, well the latest show at Das Awkscht Fescht is in the books and I will give my impressions. Erwin shares a photo from a French collector of mounted Indian inspired by Beton figures.
Macungie Toy Show 2019 My Review
As I noted in my previous post on the show, it is two days for me. On Friday, the outside dealers start setting up. Getting to the show, I discovered the normal place for me to park was closed. The school district decided to repave it. I had to find another spot. Driving to the other side of the school, I found another spot and headed up the hill to the outside stands. On my way to my first stop, I saw Tom Stine who had bought Battleground playset.
My first stop was Mike Russo. Mike had a store for many years. He had plastic and metal figures plus militaria. I looked around with the other dealers but found nothing else to buy so I headed out.
On Saturday I first went to the indoor part of the show. I found a parking spot and walked in. My concern here was not what I could find but to see a friend, Rich Kozlowski. Rich had a very serious health issue that at one point they did not think he would pull through. Thankfully, Rich had a complete turnaround and is back to doing shows. His brother Bob confirmed that Rich was better.
Glad to hear the news, I decided to walk around. In the main hall, I found Keri from Maryland set up. I found some Marx reissue Alamo cannons from Keri. Next to Keri was a dealer that gave me a laugh with his prices. The dealer had Processed Plastic army tanks for $7.00 each and a big bag of Timmee army figures for $75.00!
I used the free bus service to get up to the top of the hill where I went back to Mike Russo’s stand. After buying some more items for resale. I went down the hill and left.
The show was a disappointment. There were less outside dealers which were concerning. Still, I found some items for resale and a couple of figures for myself.
It looks US 1950s typical hard plastic to me but i could be wrong .After close look at several brand alike poses in kent Sprecher site show not exact match as far i see.
I look a much better close up of the 4 main brands making this pose compare poses and not match either.I do not know if Airfix copied the pose in some variation as well and not found photo close up to see..
Could anybody identify it with reference concrete please ?
I will like appreciate it in advance .
Red/yellow figure that is the unknown differ from rest alike poses brands in position right arm more closed up,shorter legs ,large crown feather headdress and collar/medallion chest of 11 feathers .Original Beton and AJAX copy pose had the tomahawk attach/together or mold with headdress feather by tip.
None of horses have any marking as LIDO /AJAX other did .
Last picture is from friend collector childhood poses that he also has one in grey(missing hand)pose and a cowboy that again is not clone from Beton or others ,it has different shirt ,head and legs are shorter even so looks very close .
I also look in the Payton and cereal premium poses brand and not match either .
The Beton and copies made by LIDO,ARCHER,AJAX can be seen here with better description .

best
I had a bag of Hong Kong clones of these figures that I got as a gift way back in the early 70s. They were in these hideous neon colors and almost transparent, and the bag did not even have any horses, so they were less than useless to me. I think they all wound up getting melted or chopped up over the years.
Mark.sorry I’m confuse.
Did you say u had these Beton copies made in HK in odd neon colors before?
I never see Beton copies made by HK before.
That would be interesting!!!
Yes, They were neon pink, orange, blue, green etc. and no horses at all. They were really ugly! None of them has turned up in my junk boxes in years, so I think I got rid of them all.
Mom probably got them for me off the toy rack at the grocery store one day.
Thank you Mark .
Interesting! ,will like seen some ,hope can find any ..
I seen IDEALand lido, mpc marx tm Copies made in HK ,never a BETON
