At the Delaware Toy Show, I bought a Marx Al Capone. This is the first one I have bought in forty years other than when I bought a partial Untouchable Playset. There was a good reason for this as I was the source for the original Marx Elliot Ness and Al Capone for at least 15 years if not more.
At the legendary auction which broke up the partnership between John Bowers and Gene Scala there were two lots. In each lot was four boxes with Marx figures. I went for the the lot that had the Marx Untouchable character figures, while Art Rostell, a collector, when for the other box lot which had the Zorro character figures. I got the four boxes for $50.00! Art got his boxes for the same price, I believe. The four boxes had Marx comic strip (Lil Abner, Dick Tracy and Little Orphan Annie) in shiney cream, Three inch spacemen, three inch space helmets, buildings from Enchanted Village and car head lights. I sold the Untouchable character figures first at $10.00 then $25.00. My load kept the price down on these figures for years.
The Al Capone I got in Delaware is missing the cigar and hat brim looks warped. I priced the figure at $12.99 and it sold in a week. I was surprised that it went with all the reissues out there.
