Mars WWII Japanese Paratroopers, it seems that Marx is not resting on its laurels. They already have in their pipeline Zombie Pirates, WWII German Elite Troops, and Napoleonic Old Guard. Now they will be doing 1/32 scale, Japanese paratroopers.
Mars WWII Japanese Paratroopers The Set
- 1. Standing firing rifle
- 2. Charging with bayonet rifle out
- 3. Advancing with bayonet rifle at waist
- 4. Kneeling firing automatic rifle at waist
- 5. Kneeling firing pistol
- 6. Paratrooper kneeling with 89 knee mortar. Airfix did a similar pose
- 7. Japanese paratrooper standing with a flamethrower
- 8. Soldier advancing with his left out right hand has a rifle.
Japanese 89 Knee Mortar
As I mentioned earlier one of the poses in the set is with Japanese 89 Knee Mortar. This weapon was designed by the Japanese to throw either a shell or grenade. The 89 mortar was used throughout the Pacific conflict. The paratrooper carried it in a container to give them support right on the landing field. American soldiers got used quickly to the pop sound 89 mortar and duck for cover. The 89 knee mortar could fire up to 200 hundred yards.
Final Thoughts
The Mars Japanese Paratrooper will give an welcome addition to your Pacific conflicts. Most of the figures that have been done in 1/32 scale of been Japanese Imperial infantry. I am sure you will have many uses for them.
If they come wit the sprue that could be used for tree roots.
They look pretty good right now; ‘have to see how they look close up. I like the dynamic poses. I hope the mold is clean and the detail shows up.

The link from Brian is for the 1:72 scale version (same poses), so the actual figures might look a little different in quality, usually better
I had read the 1/72 review but – as Peter said, I’ve found the 1/32 scale figures to be better. I don’t know what their mold processing is but something seems to get lost in the shrinking process or gained in the enlarging. Here’s hoping they get it wrong.
I’ve said more than once I’m rooting for Mars – they have some great ideas for sets and sometimes pull them off. The hobby is better with them than without them, I think – particularly if they can get and keep their act together.
Have just received the Mars ww2 German Luftwaffe field division figures they are great also got the Chintoys Templar knights & hospitaller knights they are the best I have seen for a long time great poses and full of detail. Hopefully they will make Saracens to go with them mounted would be nice too but must not be greedy.
Sorry use this post.
Happy 4th July to all!!!
