Plastic Figure News Roundup AIP, we first have some news from AIP found by Rahway. Also, Rahway had some additional BMC news. We will round out this post with some other information.
Plastic Figure News Roundup AIP
Rahway has let us know that AIP has issue figures in new colors and configurations. The new sets represent Colonial, Franco Prussian War and World War One. In some of the boxes, they have added camels with soldiers. You can check it out here.
BMC News
One other item of information from Rahway is BMC Toys Beach Assault Set. The set will contain the 2 large rafts, four paddlers, four sitting marines and two each of the paratroopers. They will be available in two colors tan and olive drab. these will go well with the other figures we mentioned from BMC Toys
Another item from Jeff Imel is the Timmee M48 Patton tank in gray. This is the first time they have been done in gray. You could recreate the movie, Patton. The tanks are sold in sets of three. The tanks are sold under the Timmee brand.
Figure Collection
Timpo Third version cowboy with a fringe shirt. I feel this was at the high point of the Timpo cowboys.
There’s more pieces in the BMC Toys Beach Assault set than shown in the main image. Both Tan and Olive Drab include 4 seated Marines, 4 Oarsmen, 2 Landing Craft Rubber Boats, and 2 Paratroopers in 2 poses for a total of 24 pieces. Price will be $13.80 and they should be available within the next couple of weeks.
I’ve completed all the product photos and description for the ‘new’ old items on the BMC Toys website. A quick search for ‘Marx’ will pull them all up.
Happy Easter,
Hello Stad! The mystery figure is by Deluxe Reading, from their Service Station playset.
thanks
Jeff, are you looking at creating or recreating the parachutes for the jumpers? I know you can improvise with handkerchiefs and the like, but a vacu-formed piece as with the original Marx set would be neat.
I would like to do something with parachutes, but unfortunately I have way too many other projects in the pipeline to ahead of something like that. It’ll be a while before I can even think about it.
Totally understand, Jeff. Thanks for the answer.
The Solido halftrack is awesome ! Not 1/32 scale though?
No, it is 1/43 scale sadly
The second Timpo cowboy with the built-in painted hands and guns was earlier than the over-molded 4th version. I think they were actually the first version Timpo swoppets made in the mid-late 60s. Also, his hat and head do not look like Timpo and may be Hong Kong parts.
After this version came the early 70s version with very few over-moulded parts (hands, belts, etc) and separate guns, then in the mid-late 70s came the final and most impressive versions with many over-moulded parts (hair, beards, etc). Most of the last version figures had moulded on weapons.
It is my understanding that someone is already working on a vaccuformed Marx style parachute. I will let him announce it, when he thinks the time is right.
Thanks for sharing that Len; it is particularly GREAT news coming on the heels of Jeff’s release of the paratroopers. A little green stuff and I can really give them a full combat rig instead of going “Hollywood.” They’re great either way.
