Plastic Figure News Roundup we have various items to cover. First, we have an update on Nick Versteeg of TSSD. Second, Rahway clued us in on new items from BMC.
Plastic Figure News Roundup Nick Update
Deanna put this update on Nick’s status. We post our first news on Nick’s situation.
Okay, so for anyone interested in the broken ankle saga of my husband Nick Versteeg, he got a new cast yesterday. It’s a permanent cast but will have to be cut off and a new one put on every week. They want to keep checking on his skin and make sure it is all fine in the cast. The x-ray showed that it has already begun to heal and is looking good. The only unfortunate things are that it is not a walking cast, so he will be confined to a wheelchair for at least six more weeks and the place we have to is 50 miles from our house. This week, he chose a purple cast – next week, who knows? There are lots of colors! Buffy looking onÂ
BMC New Offerings
Rahway clued me into the new figures from BMC. BMC is releasing the reissues of the Marines, paddlers and raft and parachutist. The figures will be in a 31 piece set in colors. The colors are olive, gray, blue, red, and tan. No price or release has been released.
Here’s hoping Nick gets to feeling better. Nothing worse than being laid up. For me, it would be a great excuse to just paint toy soldiers all day – but I guess even that would get old after a month or so…
I am so glad Jeff is doing those Marx Marines. I might even pop for another set or two of them in green and/or tan – as I’ve said elsewhere, they remain among my favorite Marx figures. I don’t guess it was until I was an adult I appreciated how well they recreated Marines (or GIs) hitting the beach under fire. Love ’em.
Oh yes, I really like the Reamsa figures, too. That’s one company I make exception for on 60mm figures.
The BMC Toys recasts of the Louis Marx WW2 Marines, Rafts & Paratroopers should be available within a couple of weeks and will be $13.80 a pack. They’re molded in LDPE plastic, and will be available in 5 different colors (Olive Drab, Tan, Gray, Blue, and Red), as well as 2 different “Tan vs. OD Green” packs. The Marines mold is more worn than the Japanese and Russian molds, so there is a little flashing, but the factory was able to keep it to a minimum so I think folks will be pleasantly surprises with how they turned out.
I’ve posted all the product photos on the BMC Toys facebook page, but am still building the files for all the new recruits.
The WWII US Marine mold was made in 1958 and used a lot. The WWII Japanese and Russian molds were made in 1963 and used less by Marx. The Russians only one year I think. Thanks to Victory Buy for keeping exMarx molds in production.
Hope to get some of these this Christmas along with the Austin Minatures new Marines and Japanese. Look forward to some great Pacific War battles.
