Here is what Scott has to say on these figures.

1.       54 AMR 02–F      Frontiersmen in hunting shirts

The set contains 9 infantry models with arms options for various action poses.

The frontiersmen in hunting shirts are among the most recognizable American soldiers of the 18th and early 19th century. Their presence can be found from the French & Indian Wars to the Alamo. A common headdress is the coonskin or beaver fur cap, often associated with Daniel Boone, Davy Crockett and, the fictional Hawkeye. Scots immigrants could prefer their own tufted bonnet while other ethnic groups such as the French, might wear the stocking Phrygian cap. These frontiersmen are frequently armed with hunting rifles instead of the military musket. The most famous being the Kentucky Rifle with its distinctively-shaped stock and extra-long barrel. Our models are designed with these features in mind.

Some frontiersmen wear Indian-style buckskin shirts instead of hunting shirts. Their equipment consists of powder-horn, tomahawk, hunting knife, haversack and water-bottle. They are often marksmen being able to shoot at targets up to 200 yards while the military smooth-bore musket is only effective up to 100 yards or so.

1.       54 AMR 02–K     Kentucky Riflemen (Foot & Mounted)

This set contains 2 mounted and 6 foot plus 2 horse models with arms options for various action poses. The foot models are similar to 54 AMR 02F above except for variation in terms of headdress and the mounted models.

This set is designed specifically for the War of 1812 battles at the Great Lakes and at New Orleans. Unlike the Frontiersmen, the Kentucky Riflemen is a formal militia unit with uniforms and consists of both mounted and infantry elements. They adopt the hunting shirt as their uniform with a plumed top hat.

We have provided the cavalrymen with options to be armed with the pistol, the axe or the rifle. The charge of the Kentuckian horsemen at the battle of the Thames was decisive and lead to the eventual death of Tecumseh, Chief of the Indian Alliance fighting as allies of the British.

All models are supplied unpainted.

Our next scheduled set, Roman Cavalry is targeted for release in late-March or early-April 2019. (We had targeted to release the Romans but there were some toolings issue when we begin work, which caused the delay).

Looking forward to your kind support.

Cheers,

scott

I think this sets are one of their best and more welcome as the figures can cover periods of north america(included Canada of course) ranges from mid 1700s till mid 1800 easy in many wars, action ,adventure else of north, central and west and the south west texas and mexico conflicts wars as admin point out .
It will be a great sale here in US for sure i think
I like the set ,poses and esculpt as usual from this maker that again i call the new king of plastic figures in resent years as had overproduce more than any in so short time .
Their prices been in the mid high mark range ,Yet their option with multiple head gear ,arms poses use made then good choices .
I see the EXF is more in to tradidiotan poses and may be a bit stiff anatomical in some cases ,yet not a big deal in my like personally
Eve so the maker call then 54 mm they are not the classic old 54 mm range but taller(57-58Mm least ) ,unless this set is match perfect with timpo solid, accurate.Airfix 54 or other old traditional 54 mm that so far previews sets are not .
Yet not my big issue as in my case i can blend match with many others .
    my thoughts.
    best

These are definitely on my target list – one of the times I swallow hard and bite. I will probably buy at least one of each set. I’ve been looking forward to the riders as they would make great messengers and scouts for the Alamo with their top hat options.

Who doesn’t have a soft spot for American frontiermen wearing buckskins and hunting shirts? Along with Revolutionary War Militia and Minutemen wearing tri-corns, they are about my favorites, and bring back memories of Walt Disney’s Davy Crockett — King of the Wild Frontier, as well as Johnny Tremain.

I especially like how Scott doesn’t just give us coonskin hats, but has integrated the Scottish bonnets and the French stocking caps into some of his figures, both of which also appeared on the American frontier. They even show up in Hollywood movies, such as “How the West Was Won”.

The Kentuckians in top hats fit less well into my mental image of Frontier America, but I have no doubt they represent something which is historically correct, and also fit into Alamo dioramas.

I also think the fact that Expeditionary Force projects a Mounted Roman set being released in a month or so is welcome news. I couldn’t resist jumping over to the ExForce website to see if mounted Romans were pictured in Scott’s “Future Releases” section. They were, and looked very good.
