Another color variation for Marx has shown up. This time it the Zorro character figures in green! The figures are being offered from Peru and I would say these figures are reissues. If we get a chance we will see if they were produced there or elsewhere. Here is the listing.

I am still of the belief these are copies , not recast . The last set from this same source a while ago was in a red/burgundy , the plastic having the same texture look . Funny how two full sets in odd different matching colors , condition , shows up . Look at the surface detail , soft , lacking crispness . Reminds me of P&P character figure copies , good , but not quite as nice as the originals . The 54mm sailors offered a while back by this source at a similar cost were slightly shorter , thinner than original figures . I picked up a set in dark blue from a seller in PA (for a fraction of the price on ebay) and could do a comparison side by side to see the differences .
Chris
Until I see the figures close up I would have to say the Zorro character are reissues. I know from a source that the 54mm sailors are in Peru. If they made a copy of the figure molds then it would be recasts or repro like the falling horse and rider. We will have to wait and see.
I will bring the sailors to the upcoming NJ show , you can take a look at them there . Like the Hing Fat copies of Airfix 7th , perfect , just a bit smaller . After posting my thoughts on the Zorro figures , I remembered a group of Knights sold on ebay from Mexico a while back . A few of them were Prince Valiant character figures , with worn paint like the Gunsmoke ones sold recently . The soft plastic was pink and silver like the Gunsmoke figures . Both Valiant and Gunsmoke pink plastic , both similarly painted , and other than this no other reissues known of . Seems more than a coincidence .
Chris
Laurie and I planned to be at the show at Seacus on Sunday, we hope to see you there. Interesting on the Prince Valiant character figures, the problem we have right now we do have not enough documentation on Plastimarx. I know they had the six inch figures as examples showed up in bags. This will be on going research project.
