Plastic Accessory Figure News Dollar Tree
I found two items at my local Dollar Tree store. The first was set trees and plants. they part of a block series they are offering. They are nothing exciting, but you might find a use for them as they are only a $1.00
The other item from the Dollar Tree is a western playset of ten pieces. In the set are two Indians and cowboy. These are copies of the figures of figures originally done for New Ray.
One nice piece is a tripod with cooking pot and fire.
A covered wagon is included in the set. The horse is out of scale to the wagon. Also the horse was made be ridden by an Indian.
The wagon has a driver, which I do not recognizes.
Plastic Accessory Figure News Update
Peter Evans sent us a update and a correction. The correct name is Ailgon not Algernon. I should look at the bottom of the figures more. LOL
Peter also related that they are a hard resin and somewhat crude, but paint up nice. He got his in Paris France a few years ago. He had never seen a mounted figure before.
Here you can see an uncompleted kit.
Hello Paul, it’s Aiglon (a baby eagle); it was the name also of the NapolĂ©on’s son.
Thanks for the correction. As I said I got to look under the figure. LOL
Pretty decent sculpting for Dollar trees figures.
I think the Indian is more base in Supreme airfix hybrid pose and I had seen those in buckets w copies of Airfix playset too.
The cowboys were sold painted w a nice western double facade large building in 90s .They were 60mm and better detail and their faces all looks same as if actor Harrison Ford.
Dollar tree bringing these is interesting as last figures they brought were the large scale Ninja.
I like the fire pit piece.
best
I also think the fire pit piece with the triple pole framework and pot hanging over the fire is a pretty good piece. It would fit in well with either the Atlantic or Marx Indian encampment, both of which made excellent Indian village figures.
I agree with Erwin the Dollar Tree Indian figures look simply like copies of old Airfix and/or Supreme Indian poses. The cowboy pose looks a little more original, and at least he’s being made in 60mm, rather than the shrunken, shriveled, undersize, puny 45mm figures we usually see in Dollar stores these days. It’s too bad Tony of Armies In Plastic (AIP) can’t get his newly packaged inexpensive bags of AIP figures into Dollar stores nationwide. I’m sure many little boys these days, when they see real 54mm toy soldiers like those of AIP, with actual quality, good poses, and historical detail, would look at them with wide-eyed amazement.
The Aiglon look like Segom models.
