TSSD Has Been Sold

TSSD Has Been Sold, if you go to their web site you will see that notice.  They are no longer taking orders.

We thank Don Perkins  for the heads up.

Update 11/24/18 Victory Buy informed Don that they are not buying TSSD. We will have to wait and see who bought it.

  1. I saw that on the 10th on Hobbybunker forum when Matt said he was out of the bidding for TSSD. They didn’t say who it was. If it is Victory Buy that is good. They are starting to produce their figures here in the USA. Maybe there will be a new Battle of Little Big Horn set? I thought they were selling TSSD and LOD figures already.

Matt also said that he was thinking of producing some figure sets some time next year.

Although I check the BMC/Victory Buy set on a regular basis, I myself had NOT noticed it was carrying TSSD or LOD products. But I could very well have overlooked it.

So if Mr. Prendergast is correct then I may have jumped to an unwarranted conclusion about Jeff Imel being the buyer of TSSD.

But we may have a definitive answer soon, since I’ve emailed Jeff Imel directly, asking him to confirm or deny.

I had not considered Mr. Imel as a potential buyer of TSSD, since I was convinced it would end up being Matt Murphy.

But Jeff Imel would make sense, since he’s already acquired many Timmee/Processed Plastic molds, followed by the BMC inventory along with those BMC molds which were still accessible, which he proceeded to re-release, but this time in much superior Marx-style playset boxes which opened from the top (like Marx playset boxes), rather than from the end of the box. Along with making the boxes sturdier, this was a 100% improvement for the BMC Iwo Jima & D-Day playsets.

So if Mr. Imel is indeed the new owner of TSSD, it’s a fortunate development, both for giving Nick & Deena a relatively quick sale, as well as the toy soldier hobby in general.

  3. Victory Buy has also been buying molds from Bill Murphey and is producing the Marx Training Center field equipment, WWII Russians, WWII Japanese and the Payton AA tanks.

      Thanks for the info, Kent.

However, contrary to what I suggested to Admin, I’ve since received an email from Jeff Imel, in response to my inquiry to him, that he is NOT the new owner of TSSD.

I guess we’ll find out who the real new owner is whenever he and Nick are ready to announce it.

  4. Tom Black says:

Whoever it is hopefully they invest in new Toy Soldier production!

  5. Christian Aldo says:

Even if they don’y continue, they have left a very prolific lineage!
    How many sets??

The notice on the TSSD site has been changed again.

Apparently the new owners are not taking all the inventory of non-TSSD figures..

  7. Don Perkins says:

Yes, it’s strange how the information on TSSD’s own website keeps changing, with conflicting headlines:

    1. The first TSSD headline was “TSSD is sold — or Almost sold”.

    2. The next headline was “TSSD has been sold! We can no longer accept any orders.”

    3. The current headline is “TSSD is sold”, followed by the comments Rahway cites about how the sale doesn’t necessarily include all their non-TSSD products, which, at some point, will be offered for sale, if the new owner decides not to take them, and at that point orders for those extra items can resume.

I really just think the owners, in a desire to keep everyone informed, got slightly ahead of themselves, and now the details of the sale are catching up to the gist of the headline announcements. It’s completely understandable, since they knew we were all interested in how things were going — so they announced preliminary information before it had been definitively finalized.

    • Don Perkins says:

I should clarify my point: I think TSSD announced the preliminary agreement, and then simply added a few “ifs, ands, & buts”. I didn’t mean to fault Nick & Deanna in the least.

Here is the latest comment on their site.
WE WILL PROBABLY HAVE SOME FIGURE SETS “MADE BY OTHERS”,

      AND OTHER ITEMS,

“FOR SALE – AT GREAT PRICES”

AS SOON AS THE MAIN SALE IS COMPLETED!

(whatever the New Owners Do Not Want )

      I’M RETIRING….EVERYTHING MUST GO!

I agree with Don – we see it in the news every day with folks trying to walk the line between getting the news out there quickly (first) while being accurate.

At the same time, I’m sure this is a very emotional time for both Nick and DeAnna. How many of us have dreamt of making the toy soldiers we wanted to play with when we were kids? Nick managed to realize that dream and now is having to let it go. No matter how much you know it’s necessary it’s tough.

  8. ERWIN F SELL says:

More likely the main mold rights of original TSSD production plus some else and TSSD original products overstock may had been bought ,while rest could be bought by else or keep to clearance off as repeated or sold by others as well.
Whatever is i don’t like speculate neither assume ,so i rather wait till officially been told .
Whoever got hands in their production molds rights else should not invest till sale off most overstock as this hobby every year is more limited and keep investing will be a dream of all but not logical profitable move now .
    My thoughts.
    best
