Robin Williams Auction

Robin Williams Auction we all have read that he played with toy soldiers as a child. He would do battles in his room. This stopped when his father related his experiences in war and the price people paid. Still I was curious if any items relate  to toy soldiers would show up in the auction at Sotheby’s.  When I reviewed the listing I had a few surpries.

Frank Kozik is a very interesting artist. He got his start making rock concert posters for the “grunge” scene and now makes both prints and vinyl toys. The toy soldier is actually throwing a rubber chicken, not a grenade. All of his work has some sort of subversion to it. He did a comical series of communists personalities with bust sculpts in vinyl.”Mickey Mao” is a great example of his take on history and pop culture.

Coming home from the Gulf War, we boarded commercial aircraft, with gorgeous flight attendants and all! They showed us a video put together by various celebrities that supported the war. Robin Williams was the first to speak and congratulate us in his typically hilarious fashion. “Meals ready to excrete! They’re out of there!” was one thing I remember him saying, playing on the name of the field ration MRE -Meals Ready to Eat. I asked to get a copy of the tape and I did secure one. It was shorter than what they showed us, but his routine was on it. I still have it. It should still play. I believe there are a few more Gulf War (90-91) vets on here. Did anyone else see this video and / or get a copy?
