New Plastic Platoon Coming Soon Recoiless Rifle Crew and Cameraman Mikhal keeps coming up with surprises. This five figure set will be a desire of everyone when it comes out.
New Plastic Platoon Coming Soon Recoiless Rifle Crew and Cameraman The Set
The next set from Plastic Platoon will give a three man reoiless rifle crew and recoiless rifle, soldier sitting firing rifle and a cameraman.
The recoiless rifle was first developed in World War One. It saw it s heavy use in the Korean War. The recoiless rifle used in Vitenam was the M40. It had replaced the M27 which was consider unreliable. The rifle was replace by the BGM-71 TOW anti-missle system.
The recoiless rifle has three man crew. One figure is giving the command to fire. Second man is pulling the lanyard, while the third crewman is carrying a shell. You have a soldier sitting firing . Noticed the extra helmet on the left of the figure.
The final figure is a cameraman. Prior to this figure the last military combat cameraman were done in lead by Barclay, Manoil and Al Nu. (Note there are also recent conversions.) In plastic I can not think of any off hand.
I like the pose and the detail. Notice a possible peace symbol on the helmet.
No date or price has been given, I am sure if you are collecting this series you will have to have these figures.
Would like to see ‘Plastic Platoon’ produce some 1918 WW1 figures.Yes indeed.
Nice. The kneeling firing is a sniper or using a sniper rifle. Now a crew to man the Ontos that was re-issued, originally by Renwall. The crew in the Ontos model are very badly sculpted.
The extra helmet on the ground next to the sniper looks like a NVA helmet.
Update.
These are very early pre-test cast not final figures please and will be done i exact last type material rubber used in last set please.
So far Mikhail had not finish then yet….
Yes helmet in ground is typical explorer colonial european designed used by vietnamese as well.
Renwal-revel Ontos had all crews in 45/50 mm not quite detailed figures indeed and not quite good ,but armour were done in more 1/32 scale and these PP figures will look very big x that Ontos in my opinion as are in the 60/64 mm least
The jeep crews are better i think …
Best

That M40A1 106mm recoilless rifle looks great. Diorama detail, if the weapon is about to fire nobody should be within about 40 yards to the rear of the breech. The “recoilless” part was achieved by venting some of the propellant blast rearwards thru a venture. The little tube on top is a .50 cal. spotting rifle. The gunner could verify aim by firing a .50 cal and wanting for the flash on impact, then they would fire the 106mm round.
The sniper is a sharp figure also. PP just gets better and better!
The poses looks like loading rather firing as side shooter pose had not been done ,regardless the recoliess as name says barely move at all ,it was the blast gas back that could hurt you more ,so been too near was dangerous as usual with most guns/cannon and bazookas and else of course .While firing the 50 caliber target point you could stand back close .
Interesting youtube video give a glance of how was fire.I think this addition by PP is aplus .
Britain 76MM early model with crews could be used too x Korean figures as this weapon was used in Korea .
my thoughts..

I prey they do WWII some day!
He will go in to WW 2 very soon.
Best…
Before he goes to WW2 hope he does Special Forces and Indochina War.
Will he do eastern front in guessing?
The sniper is my favorite. I love the Indian eagle feather on his helmet. Reminds me of “Little Sure Shot” from the old Sergeant Rock comic books.
Erwin, the M40/M40A1 recoilless rifles weren’t adopted until 1955 so they weren’t used in the Korean War. It’s older “cousin” the M27 105mm recoilless rifle WAS used in Korea along with the WW2 vintage 75mm and 57mm versions. Funny thing was that the M40 was in fact a 105mm weapon; it was designated as “106mm” to prevent the troops from using the wrong ammunition. The shells were not compatible between the old and new guns. Anyway, the 106mm turned in valuable service over the years for the US, NATO and Israel among others. It was replaced by guided missles. Interestingly, several 106mm recoilless guns have been used over the years as “avalanche guns” in mountain areas of the USA.
