Plastic Figure Showcase Part 5 Reader’s Contributions Mystery Figures we start with two contributions from Greg Liska. Next we share some metal flags that James Woznik will be selling on his site and the Marx meet. Finally I will show some figures including a mystery I found in a the basement.
Plastic Figure Showcase Part 5 Reader’s Contributions Mystery Figures Greg Liska
Greg has taken some Marx 54mm Farmhands and converted them into Confederate soldiers. He noted most Confederate soldiers came right from the farm.
You can see Greg added pistol hostlers to most of the figures and added hats. The farmer at the far right is one I want to convert one of these days to hold a pistol and make a partisan.

The item we have from Greg Liska is a simple repaint of reissue Rel wagons. Here is what he has to say.The recast REL wagons (for a mere $3.00 each at Hobby Bunker) are the best deal I’ve seen in a long time. I picked up 6 of them. I didn’t like the color; a sort of pale yellow tan with dark brown wheels). The plastic they are recast in is a quality softer plastic. They don’t seem to ‘like’ the plastic friendly paint by Rustoleum, but Model Masters paint works great. Plastic Figure Showcase Part 5 Reader’s Contributions Mystery Figures FlagsJames Woznick posted over on Facebook that he had he had made these flags for sale. hereis what he said.A number of years ago, at OTSN ( the Chicago Toy Soldier Show) I was selling some die cut, aluminum flags. They were exact copies of some of the harder to find Marx flags, at a fraction of the cost.
At that time I had folks that asked for a German Marx style flag, but one that really looked like a German flag.
I just got these in, as well as some others. I’ll have some at the Marx show next week. This has nothing to do with politics, please don’t read into it. My personal favorite is the Alamo, Come And Take It flag. When I get back from the show, I will list what I have left for sale.
One other flag that James did was Zorro flag. Those who will be lucky to get to the Marx Meet will get them.
Plastic Figure Showcase Part 5 Reader’s Contributions Mystery Figures Figure
I was cleaning in the basement when I found a bag with Britains horse. I though it might be a Britains Eyes Right mountie I had bought as a flea market. Instead it was this mounted figure does anyone know who made him?
Here we have a Barzso Collectibles Rogers Ranger figure. Someone did a head conversion to the figure. Do you know what he could be now? this is the first conversion I have seen of a Barzso figure.
The horse appear to looks exactly as Britain American Civil war swapped series .Also copied in HK as well ,but that looks very original to me.
Best
can be seen here as quick search i did now to show sample…

It is a Britains horse for Civil war.
The use conversion of farmer as soldiers and cannon crew in action are awesome well done and great ideas, another show of ingenuity from Greg.
The conversion in Barzso ranger could be just another same ranger or else just with a post era hat but can pass .Still not typical use of these hats in their environment they fought.
I like the banner ideas,i think they should refer to Nazi banner ,not German banner .
My thoughts.
best
Your mystery figure is a Marlburian Dragoon made in resin by Len Cooksey which he sold under the name Ivanhoe Figures, this was a very short run which he only sold at the Plastic Warrior Show in 2013. Len didn’t make his own horses so he designed the figure to go on the Britains Eyes Right ACW horse, as you have here.
Thanks I must have gotten the figure at that show. How he headed to the basement instead of theattic. I have no idea
Firstly, my thanks to Erwin for the kind words. Secondly, I agree with Erwin that the flags were not the German national flag, but the NSDAP party flag and the Nazi battle flag. The national flag at the time was the black-white-red stripes.
The converted Ranger could be a late 1700s- early 1800s militia man, or even a western theater Confederate volunteer. Flintlock muskets were used by some Confederate forces even past the middle of the war. I imagine there were some scratch units of home guard even late in the war so armed.
