Austin Metal Gangster Figure is figure that Austin Miniatures has been talking about doing. They sent us photos for you to see. No word when it will be available or price.
We normally do not do posting on metal figures but we thought collectors might be interested.
Austin has not said if it is the same size as the Marx Untouchables. If it is it looks to be a worthy addition to your Roaring 20’s scene.
Here Austin Miniatures has painted the gangster in differrent colors for the suit. AS we get more details we will let you know.
Austin Miniatures has made a real contribution to the toy soldier hobby —- first with its outstanding Western figures, followed by some of the best ever U.S. WWII Marines, and then with its great series of painted Western town buildings, which both Playset Addict and Len Hardt have used to such good effect in their dioramas. If we at some point get the WWII Japanese to go with the U.S. Marines I’ll be totally happy!
However, this metal Al Capone figure looks pretty good, especially painted in the alternate color schemes, both of which are impressive. Most Marx Untouchable collectors will probably hope for 54mm scale. But whether Austin Miniatures does that, or makes them go with the larger Ideal gangster figures, it’s still a welcome contribution. I personally liked the scale of the Cowboy and U.S. Marine set — I never actually measured them, but I thought they appeared to be 60mm. As I get older and older, that’s the scale I prefer.
I should add that I think everyone hopes we see Austin Miniatures in Chicago this September.
I saw them on eBay yesterday for $25.00 each. I wish they would have done the WWII Japanese, I would have gotten about 8 sets of those if they had been done. Those sculpts looked really nice.
Hopefully, it may not be over yet; if he can catch his breath (so to speak) with this (and perhaps other) metal releases, we might yet see the long-awaited and anticipated Japanese. I just hope I’m around to see it or can still enjoy them.
Looks good, he really looks like he’s going to pound out a tune.
Great sculpt, paint job not so much. I hope this is part of a series of figures yet to come.
Our Gangster is available on EBay for $25 and comes in 5 different color variants. We will also be selling our gangster at the Chicago Toy Soldier Show. Our gangster is slightly larger than the Marx untouchables. However this is because our gangster has far more detail.
Nice figures s .Very well done.
Unfortunately not my interest in metal at all so I won’t buy it.
Best
That is a great pose. He could serve just as well as a G-Man. I hope some day Austin will do a set of gangsters in plastic. Austin’s cowboys are tied with Airfix for best ever cowboys. Austin’s are definitely the best of the larger sized newer western figures.
