Plastic Warrior Show 2018 Part 5 Michael Smith’s Photo Set A we have our final photos of the show. I have to divide Michael’s photos into two posts as he did over 30 photos. He actually did more but I think after these photos from our friends I think you have an idea of the show. Part seven will give my impressions on the show and aftermath.
Plastic Warrior Show 2018 Part 5 Michael Smith’s Photo Set A Photo Time
John Begg talking to some people
Steve Pugh’s stall loaded with the plastic figure. Rummaging through the figures.
Stad going through Peter Bergner’s table. Peter had figures in various price ranges.
Alan Spaulding’s stand in the foreground are Timpo solid Confederates.
Gareth Morgan rummaging through a box looking for some treasures.
Barrie Blood walking look for figures. since selling his collection he is looking for Hong Kong figures. Laurie is on his left. The person in front of her I believe is Roger from Sweden.
Eunice Begg watching over their stand.
Just rows and rows of plastic figures it got to be a sensory overload.
Later in the show still you were walking around looking for bargains. Other than one break to talk about Michael I think II was on my feet 95% of time It was so much I mised stuff. The person with the Barzso playsets had a Marx Sword in the Stone Playset. I hate to hear the price. A MPC Planet of the Apes box set was offered at 250 Pounds ($355.00) and someone bought it!
Peter Spackman a very fine gentleman. Always calling you my friend. Peter had a heart surgery after last year’s show. He was hoping not for a repeat. I got some Britains Roman chariot drivers on separate bases.
This collector went outside after buying a tub of Airfix figures and had to separate them be before going home.
Future of the ‘hobby’?
One collector under the age of 50 at this show(in photos).
And I am sure this mirrors way too many shows.
First Legion(metal) figure @ $60.00 for a foot soldier?
As we die off,so will the hobby.
As an aside, when I returned from RVN in ’69,I paid $3000.00 cash
for a 1966(!!!) Corvette Coupe.Try that one on today for the average ‘Joe Tentpeg’.
Maybe the answer does lay in the wonderfully sculpted plastic 54mms emanating
from ‘Mother Russia’ @ $5.00 a pop.
Just sayin’.
Have a good day lads!
It is something that I have talked about before. Most of the hobbies are decreasing due to the age of its collectors. We are getting little or no new blood in. You go to the shows and see the same faces. Only the comic shows and shows with action figures have yound people. I saw this 30 years ago with radio premium collecting.
Way more than 5.00 per figure and not counting shipping.
Collectors now face being rich deep pocket or not more.
New generation are almost none ,mine second generation back u guys is barrely making as well .
Internet had help a bit to interact and buy but I noticed a huge increment buyers collectors from abroad in my age group while very few here in states.
European mid generation collector that still have a good job more according to Europe standard life today can afford the new prices per figure better than old generation many retired or else .
My thoughts…
Best
This is the best selection of photos yet. And I especially enjoyed the “panoramic” shot.
I think after about 5 minutes I would start to get “Snowblind” with all the plastic there. Nice pictures and review of the show.
55+ crowd. Not getting any younger.
