We have here three different hard plastic Indians. I like the two figures to the left as they are different.  One is carrying fish while the other blowing the horn. I do not know who made these figures. The third figure is Jim.

I have been over the years adding to my civilans. I do not know who made the farmer or the construction. This because when I got them the party did not know.  Also I did not have the time to do research.

I have in the collection a number of conversions. Some are well done like ones done by Peter Evans. Others like the figure above  I feel better luck next time. This as found in a junk box lot.

I thought I had seen this figure on Kent Sprecher’s site. When I went back I could not find it. So who made him?

Painted cowboys should be Xiloplasto or Cromoplasto.
The alien is been copied by many from spain and italy and come from original lead mold figures.
There HK verssion two without solid base.
    Best.

  2. ERWIN F SELL says:

Is been hard to me for many years get the JIM and Cyrnos musketeers ,in french brand i got the RF copies unpainted under JEM,the Cofalu(no the Gilbert copies) and the starlux ,plus Mokarex few poses.
From other countries of course i got most minus the FONTANINI.
Problem with older french brands is the fragile stiff plastic used and get then complete ,it took me a while and repeated lots to get Starlux complete .
The last cowboy pose looks very odd to me ,it has what appear to be a very modern rifle like M1 Garand .I could be wrong as hard see well from angle photo .
    my thoughts

  3. the indian with fish is by Cyrnos (French) the one blowing the horn is Beffoid (French) and was originally made as a hollowcast lead figure.

In the next picture the semi flat indian with machete over head was made by Domage et Cie (French – Domage and Company) it was originally made in aluminium and sold under the brand name ALUDO (ALUminium DOmage), the plastic version which you have here was sold under the brand ACEDO (ACEtate DOmage). They used to have a little paper label with the brand name stuck to the top of the base but this is nearly always missing.

The Saracen marked “les Croisades” is part of a series based on the ORTF TV series Thibauld et les Croisades”

  4. Darren Hatley says:

Love the Jim Saracen figure, Never seen him before or any others from this series, I take it they are very rare? I like the other figures as well.

  5. Darren Hatley says:

Ok thanks Brian, I would like to own them one day as they are an era that i collect, But it seems the chances are i won’t, But you never know.

  6. OIF-Retread says:

i thought the last figure looked like a processed plastic product, maybe a wagon or stagecoach guard. interesting in that he seems to be holding an M-1 Garand.

    • Brian Johnson says:

Britain’s also has a Cowboy standing figure firing a Garand!!

      • ERWIN F SELL says:

Several of Britain deetail cowboys have what appear to be a modern M1 garand but not that clear as this i think,as Britain butts are hide in the body or arms of figures. When compared with modern Gi’s from Britain you can see difference of two made weapons as not same yet definitely not quite a winchester or typical western weapon x sure.
So much x the deetail on Britain deetail .lol

  7. Peter Evans says:

    Hi Darren
Those figures do turn up at the PW show
maybe you try and get along this Saturday

  8. Darren Hatley says:

Hi Peter yes i’m sure they do and as ive mentioned before i would really like to go to at least one plastic warrior show in my life, But unfortunately ive had some bad ongoing health issues over the last couple of years and i would say i am physically unable to attend this years show, I wont bore you with the details but what i will say is that i’m very frustrated that i cant attend this show but i really hope to attend a show in the near future if my health allows me, I’m about to turn 50 and i feel more like 80 at the moment. I used to be quite an athlete but certainly not now, So believe me there’s no one more frustrated than me that i cant go at the moment.

I love those Xiloplasto/Cromoplasto western figures. They have such a unique style to them. I would love to get some but they seem to be pretty expensive.

      • TDBarnecut says:

How can a single plastic figure be worth $152.00 ?

        • ERWIN F SELL says:

Well there some that paid over 200.00 x a sinle marx figure.
So I guess it depend on how much want spend x .
          Crazy hobby some time.

          • Mark T. says:

I sold a Timpo White Gloves Confederate Officer to a German collector for 2 grand once. I also sold a White Gloves Confederate with a broken rifle for 500 bucks. I would never pay that much, though, even if I was a millionaire.

          • ERWIN F SELL says:

Ok Mark I give up,WOW!! you really made money there in that sale.I had sold TIMPO roman standard carrier mounted for over 400.00 but never near that .I need find some of those one day .
Now about Xiloplasto .The rare under LANDI production(early ) are the one that cost a lot and basically italian collectors kill x it .
But most Xiloplasto i had bought ton in past in large lot ,some may come damage but i get a lot repeat keep single poses and resold rest very quick .
Some are Xiloplasto were made semi swappet too and are extremely rare too .
I have few left x sale off now and are canadian repeated poses .
Now i had say this before ,you can not search or use international ebay from US/canadian speaking ebay link. You have to become a member in the Italian ebay or country you look specifically that is not same IDt and the using google translator search and get what you want or else .That is how i get figures x over 17 years off ebay from around world. And trust me you will be surprise how many deals you get .Once finds a good seller ask to ship (“Letter”) if not more 25 figures and that will be the best economic way from Italy,Spain,France ,belgium and few others.
Most seller agree use what is call letter that in reality is small pack case .
Xiloplasto/Cromoplasto are very sturdy figures but some times get broken if figure rubber type material become too old exposed at humidity x long years .
Only Two italian books cover partially then and not their production.
At this moment i’m in talk with a writer of future italian book that will cover then more deep and hope done soon .
Yet in regular Ebay you can often search and find deals under the three name brand or mix with other .

Erwin, I am very interested in Cromoplasto and Xiloplasto. Thanks for all this information! I think I may have the top half of one unpainted Xiloplasto semi-swoppet cowboy someplace in the garage. When I was about 6, I stole the figure out of a fort playset box (yes, I am ashamed) in this department store in my hometown that sold imported German and Italian toys. I stupidly took him apart at some point and lost the legs and base. The cowboy torso was made of a very dark blue or black rubber and he had a pistol in one hand and a torch in the other. About 70mm.

He was a different style from the figures you linked. I may be totally wrong, but I think that style you linked is Cromoplasto and the other style which is more animated: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/qAAAAOSwfsha8xHs/s-l1600.jpg I think is Xiloplasto.

We are all excited about Vietnam War figures finally being available from TSSD and Plastic Platoon, but the Italians had us beat by 40 or more years! Check this out: Cromoplasto Vietcong! http://www.astrogiochi.com/it/soldatini/soldatini-varie-marche/cromoplasto-vietcong-1-serie-detail.html I think they just did headswaps with other soldiers in their range, as there are modern Arabs and other armies in this range with the exact same poses and weapons, but still…

      • ERWIN F SELL says:

Mark I just confirm with the catalog book ,the swapped indian is ISAS brand another italian brand that did indeed export to Canada and US many figures and access ,The figures were often marck made in ITALY below or a rare confusing logo with capitals letters IEIE to which i had not found reason yet .Figures were made with that type base shape that come off and torso swapped in most of then .They coverage most US western US civil wars and Canadian R Police mounted in foot and horse poses. For some reason by looking at catalog i manage see two sets of children play indian weapons very realistic that i think you had ask before ,but i could be all wrong on it .In it both words “Tribu Sioux” and “Tribu appache” appear per each set with knives ,there others with very well done indian shields in plastic and different types tomahawk, spears else .I can send catalog photos to you if like of then .
Isas was copied by HK and there plenty well done in 54 mm copies of many set poses.
The original ISAS brand well done 4 western carriages/wagons and forts were not copied by HK as far i know.
I do own very few ISAS figures but are not that high value from abroad.

I’d love to see those pictures, Erwin!

          • Mark T. says:

All these European toys were stocked in a really great independent department store that used to be in my hometown of Ottawa, Canada. It was called Frieman’s. They had Jean Hoefler playsets, and those Italian figures we are taling about and the weapon sets and also Elastolin castles and a range of wooden wild west buildings among many more. It was a wonderful store. They always had an amazing Christmas display.

If only I could go back in time to that store in 1970 or 1971 with a couple of hundred dollars worth of 1970 era cash!

I need post this update here in behalf of Paul Stadinger .admin.
He will off some days as he is attending PW show in UK.
    Will be back soon.
    Besy

  12. ERWIN F SELL says:

The swapped is Landi ,ISAS made then as well .
Xiloplasto and cromplasto goes as first name used and later changed too ,not much difference, the first generation are more crude as derived from early composition alike poses ,second are better .
The so call “”vietnam”” were a series of post 1960s modern soldiers in basic NATO italian uniform made as any army ,the only more interested are the arabs and were made to be sold as was popular the conflict of late 60 ans 70 Israeli-Arabs wars .All do could be call Vietnamese are definitely not vietnamese of the viet nam or indochina war by uniform and weapons .But very common still and around. The modern soldiers are armed with very well done weapon such flamethrower ,rocket fire weapons and others ,i have the 12 poses in two style uniforms .They were recast umpinted in late 80s and sold by unknown italian seller company too.

Erwin, did you say Paul was able to attend Plastic Warrior after all? If so, I’m glad he could make it, if for no other reason than to be able to say “Hi” to all the friends he made over there years ago.

Alien – original figure by italian Torgano.

BTW: I need this figure 🙂

    • ERWIN F SELL says:

Andrey they had not been confirmed as Torgano please ,specialist space figure from Italy (Ervino) suggest possible by Torgano in one comment ,yet two italian Books post then as unknown do to fact that appear to be sold by various makers at same time with that base and other base in exact detail and different packings.Same with HK version i got .
This space link web site forum(below ) is one of main sources in space sets and indicate same as not confirmed be a TORGANO set .While CO-MA two sets and other italian sets such TEXAS,Cromoplasto and LANDI set had been corroborated as being theirs ,this mystery set is not and neither hard to find from ebay as unknown space figure often sold in pack.
Sample set pack mint with this link show exact figure in non TORGANO packing .So for now should be considered generic italian made …
      My thoughts.
