It has been stated on one of the forums that Playset Magazine is going from $8.00 an individual issue to $10.00. A subscription will increase a $1.00 an issue plus $.50 for shipping or $9.00 increase for a six issue subscription. This increase is is due to the printer raising prices he charges. How this price increase will effect the magazine subscription base is anyone’s guess. The loyal friends of the magazine have rushed to defend the increase, but it is the average collector who will have to decide if they can take the increase or not with everything else going up. Laurie and I went to a restaurant recently and after we had ordered the waitress told us that prices had increased one to two dollars. (They had not gotten their new menus with the increase prices yet) If we had not been so tired, we would have left. As it was this price increase left a taint on the meal and despite the food being very good, we will not go back.
It will be interested to see how the price increase effects the magazine subscription base.
I would think it would have very little, if any, affect on the subscibers. They understand costs and greatly appreciate the high quality of the product.
We will see how things play out in the coming months if the increase will effect Playset magazine or not.
Amen, Lynn. There are plenty of things I will cut back on before I give up my bi-monthly high when Playset Magazine arrives at my home.
I gave up my subscription some time ago. While I generally liked it, I found it expensive and didn’t think the new product reviews were unbiased. While I understand you don’t want to criticize the dealers who are helping pay for the continued publication by advertising in your magazine , (why bite the hand that feeds you) I would like a honest assessment of the new product, not a smoke screen to avoid offending your advertisers. Might sound like a small reason, but combined with the cost it was enough for me not to renew.

I agree on getting honest reviews on new figures. It is hard to do honest review as the makers get very testy. I have had few makers get nasty with me with my reviews, but I can take and dish it back.
It will be interesting to see how the price increase effects the magazine sales with everything else slated to go up next year. Hopefully it will not, but this economy is very fragile.
I take all reviews with a grain of salt anyway, but I do like hearing others true opinions. I don’t want to hear they are all sunshine and light when in reality they are not. How does one get better? Opinions and critism are certainly tools for one to learn if you don’t get defensive. Of course, most people only what to hear the good things. People should learn to take opinions as opinions of one person which they can either listen to or disregard, they need not take it personally. As they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Well, who the heck holds bee’s?
