New Italmas 60mm Russian Special Operation Forces Figures Russia Final Thoughts
The figures are semi flat. I think these could be in other scenarios. We have no price at this time.
Semi-flat,that’s a buzz kill!
Dittos
Russian production in flat are reminiscent of the Soviet era production. A unique style used in plastic during 60-80s making plastic figures base in old metal mold style. As a child I was bombarded by then and dislike most because I have the Marx, US and Spain figures via my father and family. Now I miss then as nostalgic.
Russian/Ukrainians andeElse may love them as well any former collector from east europe ,balkans socialist block or Cuba as they were toys imported from URSS only .
Russian start making plastic True 3D figures mold after casting the ex marx molds they took over in 70s and Progress plus others were first to break ice off the flat style.
In my opinion they have a special space and meaning among many collectors .
Yet I understand those do not like then at all and most in here will not like then .
Yet too, it wont stop Russian from making new sets of them As far i know they sale well there and in Europe too.
my thoughts.
best
I don’t think they will sell in Western Europe, there is no appetite for post WW2 or semi flats or SWAT amongst collectors
Well french collectors do like then as far i chat with then ,so are others such Italians that had three main plastic producer of flat figures sets in line in 60/70s as well .Balu,Torgano and AP-RP.
But i guess is enough market among vast russian,Ukrainian ,Bielorrusia population and the amount sets made recently plus the reissues of most old former URSS flat sets show they are selling well.
Former east germans ,polish ,bulgarian ,hungarian ,rumanian ,rest ex red block collectors that play with flat sets from the late 60s to 80s era are the main target of these production also .No the older generation.
These figures are not to be blend with 2/3 D style but to be use as specific range .
My thoughts.
I like the topic of “SWAT” figures and if these weren’t Semi-flats I’d be ordering some sets.I just wish with all the “SWAT” and Police figure sets that a company would produce some sets of “Bad Guys” Civilians with weapons/rioting poses.Marx Untouchables are OK but are dressed too snappy,LOL.
The topic SWAT/modern armies is very popular today specially with collector my age ,so are any modern wars from 70s till now .
I belong to some blog of those modern collector era war groups and they buy extensively from any makers as well most china made sets since 90s .
The thematic of making post WW2 and actually post Vietnam era did not start now at all.
Britain,Airfix and Esci did many sets,so revell and early russian such Oriet brand start it .
Also.France for instance have plenty indochina and algerian wars sets made by many makers from 60s-70s .
Italian brand Cromoplasto did many post 70s modern sets and so are Atlantic many sets as well.
With gulf war and afghanistan conflict post 9/11 the surge of interest has increased and brands such FV,AIP venture making new sets.Mars did modern sets as well recently with good popularity .
From China original designed not copied just to mention few new nice sets from brands such FISHEL,New Ray ,TM,Boley,DGN-HING FAT ,BLUE BOX new modern army set ,etc had come to market with good popularity.
The hollywood many new films depicting these conflict had help the increase in interest on these wars thematic Figures could well be used by SFC collectors as well.
I understand the not blend chartescrist of flat versus no flat ,they are made for a different range collectors like.
My thoughts.
As a clarifying note.
i had not try push the flat as good figures else ,just give my personal like opinion please ,i totally understand the not like opinion of many here .thank you
Hey, that reminds me – has anyone made any good Untouchables conversions from the reproduction figures? If so, please get some pictures of them posted here by Stad.
Many years ago I had some conversions from Les White which I sold on the list. Sadly I did not take any pictures.
It annoys me too that the amount of bad guys for modern scenarios are very limited. I have been only able to get a few which Erwin knows the company that made them. I have acquire a few Plasty modern civilans which I have added weapons. When I did my stories it would a mix of figures from different periods.
Yes civilian type bad guys gangster type are too few.
SOMA(Also sold under another distributor) did a playset I complete miss in 90s and only see one entire in hands of Paul personal collection mint in large box(I’m jealous-lol)I’m kidding .
But i’m looking for it still.
It was done in China and have many vey nice poses from 70s with police cars and else, figures could have many uses as partisan else too.
Most modern civilian type made resent are futuristic type .
The Mars Somali insurgent and afghans plus AIP afghans are nice but those x middle east are only x that made.
Partisan only made by EB from russian x yugoslavian army are nice ,but more x WW2 will be needed as well gangsters x modern sets.
The Marx are nice but their clothing stays in 30s till early 40s most .
The use of Plasty is well thought .
i had adquire(taken from my brother) few rail road figures to convert, but that job is x when i retire i guess.
I’m expecting MARS or Strelets HO sets civil and partisan been done in large scale 1/32 least if possible.
BLUE BOX vintage 60s partisan set was very nice done but in 25/30 mm unfortunately ,too bad not done in larger scale as they did with other WW2/Modern sets.

Strange sculpting, but kind of cool in silver.
In SILVER, they remind me of ROBO-COP!!!!
