Plastic Figure Showcase Marx Figures Color Variations, Promotional Figure March 2018 Wyatt Earp
One of the many stories on my collecting figures is acquiring the Wyat Earps in various colors. As I said in November 24, 2012, I had bought the wyatt Earp figures at an auction and they stayed lost for about ten years. I thought I had sold off all of my figures until recently. In the Burger King bag were the three above figures. Checking the main collection, I discovered they were duplicates. I have decided to offer them for sale. The most desired of the figures is the one in black. The gray is a true gray and not a landfill gray. We will see what happens.

Louis Marx would have figures done of various dignitaries that came to New York. He would give them out at the dinners. We know he did Marshall Zhukov and Anthony Eden. According to Francis Turner Anthony Eden is the rarest of the the figures. He can go for several thousand dollars. This one is of Pierre Mendes of France, who was President of the Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs. Once again he was in that Burger King bag. I have a double so he is up for auction.

When I was going through the collection checking on the duplicates I discovered I had a Marx 60mm Cavalry standing firing in a light tan. I do not know where I got the figure, as it is only one I have I have decided to sell him and he is on Ebay.

These last two figures are going back into the collection. The first I had gotten at the one of the warehouse auctions. He was done in hard plastic. I wonder if this was in any playset.
The other is a 60mm stretcher bearer in yellow. It is hard plastic. Was it done as a test shot?
WOW,you lucky in wyatt Earp figures.!!!
Good hunt and sales!!!
Ok the tan(I call light cream/ivory color) 60 mm Cavalry i got one each pose from former duplicates set i have from my father ,this as well farm animal in the odd tank cream colors i will dig then to do photos soon tomorrow .

I think you have a magic Burger King bag. You ought to put it up for auction and see what happens!
We know that the Marx Wyatt Earp playsets came with a cream-colored Wyatt Earp character figure. Did some playsets have gray or black Wyatt Earps? Or did those come in bags? How do we know the black and/or gray Earp character figures are even genuine Marx products?
And how exactly does one know that a gray Earp character figure is an “original gray”, rather than a “dump gray”, without cutting into (and thus damaging) the figure?
The only two gray Marx Wyatt Earp figures I’ve personally seen were cream turned gray by the dump. Both had enough flaws to justify to myself to cut them up for conversions. Insides were a rich cream color. Always leery of “hard to find” gray figures that
also came in cream. I’ve always heard that black and tan are “test shot” colors, but never saw one personally. Caveat emptor.
Ever see American Pickers dig motorcycles and signs, etc. out of the ground? Maybe they can go dig for Johnny Ringos in the Marx dump?? Not sure the guys who prowl the dumps for figures to resell are doing anyone a big service. Just MY opinion. “Best”… 🙂
All three figures that I am selling are the real. I picked up at auction from the warehouse break up of Scalia and Bowers partnership. They bought the warehouse and sold playset in 70’s.
